I've been going through my Leica collection to see what I could sell to finance a new lens. I pulled out my IIIf RD and checked the current prices and found out it's selling for a lot more lately. Did the IIIf RD all of the sudden get collectable? I would consider mine in Ex condition except for an area around the tripod mount. The top plate is mark free.
I'm thinking about keeping it, I was just going to keep the IIIa and a Summitar but man-o-man that IIIf is looking good. Which would you guys keep?

I have just purchsed my first Leica (III) but I was bidding on a IIIf RD on *bay and it ended at $455, it came with a summitar 50 and was a 8 or 8+ from the photos. Just to give you an idea.

Thanks photobizzz, I also have that lens but wasn't going to sell it. Those prices make me re-think my decision.

it is more the Summitar that is bringing more money these days , not so much the IIIf RD,
all the ooh! and aah! talk here on this forum has a way of doing that.
notice the Summars also sell for more now, and the Canon 50/1.8 and the 50/1.5 too, not to mention the Jupiter 3 in LTM ,focus problems and all.

A friend has my Summar he's trying out and I'm keeping the Canon 50 on my CL. It's works out well on that camera. Thanks for telling me about the Summar, I was going to sell it cheap.

I do think you would have checked the current prices for the Summar also, same as you done for the IIIf with the Summitar lens.

I think I will start to hype the Industar 61 l/d lens more and more.
and watch the price on these go up.

I tried that with the Konica I. Funny thing is, it turns out to be a wonderful camera that's easy to fix.

the number one rule is: that the attributes of the object that you are about to hype have to have some basis in " fact".

The lens collapses, it's almost a Leica.

post some photos taken by that lens and camera and make a fuss over the OOF areas, gush over the Konica optics.
you may have to repeat this several times, and if you have made some friends, they will all agree.
