Possible Pub in Petaluma: Andresen's on Western Av downtown. Art deco linoleum floor, removed from Matson's Lurline ship-to-Hawaii; and enough stuffed wildlife to offend any & every vegetarian. I don't think they serve food, but it might be a good beer-&-gear gathering place.

(Is the Am. Grafitti festival downtown, or elsewhere in Peta?)

Kirk

I peeked around and it seems like the bar does have "bar food", sounds like fun!!

I just had a conversation with a couple who's father was personel steward to the Matsons on the Lurline during his summer break from high school :)

Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow along with some good subjects and gear.

Like Kirk, I will try to turn up a bit early and to a bit of wandering around.

Have fun in Chickaluma, and if the weather is warm, enjoy the looks of the younger generation when they see what their tattoos will look like in 30-40 years, per examples visible on the older generation.

Well I had to look it up - I never knew it was once the egg capital of the world.
I also discovered we can look forward to .. or not , the worlds-ugliest-dog contest in a months time.

Sheesh, were you raised in Scotland or something? :)

Looking forward to photos of the event, including some from Kent's new Leica Monochrom and 50mm summicron ASPH.

Shhhh...it's a secret.

Gents, I'm going to have to miss this auspicious event...I'm off tomorrow to Maui with the missus. Taking the IVSB2, Elmar 50, and lots of film. Aloha!

Regrets on my part too. I'm in NYC en route to graduation of my expensively educated offspring, yay. In a year or two I might be able to afford photography again. I can stop pretending that it's fun making pin hole cameras out of oatmeal cans (oatmeal gruel is the main nutrional staple of the diet of parents of multiple students). Essential basics of photography my foot. Just saw the Cindy Sherman retrospective at MOMA, and she hardly ever made her own cameras. That from a woman who was too cheap to hire proper models for fashion shoots.

I hope that someone who goes to this show makes a separate thread someplace with nice photos of the Movie cars :) -

I'd love to see Ron Howard's 58 Chevy and Paul Le Mat's "Piss Yellow" Lil Deuce Coupe again - (it was one of my favorite Hot Rods of all time)

And when I was a member of the Edsel Owners Club (back in the late 70's/ early 80') I regret I had the chance to buy Cindy William's 1958 Edsel Corsair from the movie......................I wonder where that car is now????

Tom

Thanks to Kent and Kirk for great mini meetup.
Kent set an new speed record of 2h30 for the San Francisco to Petaluma drive.
At the end of they day, the drive back might take longer still : as I was leaving to go North six police cars sped South after him

Andersens bar was interesting, dark with no windows and advertising liquor ... so Kirk suggested a nice little Italian place.
In typical fashion, we did our best to impress the waitresses with 8 cameras between the three of us - spanning time from a Nikon S2 RF and Rolleiflex through the Leica M5 , M6 , M8 , M9-P as well as a Contax N1 and Olympus E-M5.

On the streets Kirk was so completely in period character with the Nikon and Rolleiflex, he was attracting as many photographer as the classic cars.

Photos of cars and characters will follow.

Fun time, what a beautiful day it was! The waitress couldn't believe our gear collection, pretty funny actually.

I popped into Walgreens on the way home and had my Agfa Ultra developed, below are a few. Keep in mind, drug store scans with a little Lightroom tweaking.

Check out a few shots from today.

PS- Of course Flickr Uploader ordered the pics in the exact opposite order I desired, sheesh!

Wow ! what speed - who need digital when you have a Walgreens.

Those flames look really good as does the purple haze reflecting on that mascot.

Those flames did render pretty well! I might just have to use the "real" scanner on a few of these later :)

Note to future self : remember to check ISO after handing camera around at gear table ( ISO 1250 E-M5 :bang: )

Did a waitress dump a drink in Kent's lap like the last meet? I hope he didn't use the 'When I'm not using film cameras, I direct feature films' line again?

I tried the "Are you a model? Would you like to be one?" line but I didn't notice the waitress was paying no attention to me at all...instead she was mesmerized by Donald and his big lens.

She also seemed quite taken by Kirk in his Good Humor white outfit and Indiana Jones hat.

LMAO Donald! Sorry about that, I changed it when I was playing around! At least now you know if high ISO daylight shooting is advisable or not!

I didn't know you got a picture of Mike's polka dot shoes, very well done!

Donald, you have a wonderful eye when you look thru your ND filter! The shoes are my fave, but the fellow with the duster admiring his own car seems to capture the feeling of the whole event. I like the way he's OOF and the car is tack-sharp. Seems to represent the 'focus' of the event.

I'll try to post some later today.
