This is a great story by Peter Turnley about a Yugoslavian printer in Paris who was Cartier Bresson's printer for 30 years. It's a piece that wet printers can fully appreciate but it's a wonderful read for all nonetheless.

sorry, it's Voja, not Voya.

I thought Pierre Gassmann was HCB's printer... 😕

HCB worked for so long he had several, if not numerous printers. Voja, however, printed the bulk of his work during the period when his work became really collectible and photography became regarded more widely as art.

He also printed some of my work in the mid-1990s, just because I walked into Picto and asked to speak to the printer.

In all the vale Voja don't forget that there are some incredible master printers still working, and that you can get work printed by them, often at very reasonable rates. They will be forced to close up shop if no-one uses them.
