Somebody make a lickstarter - send e-mail to Ilford: "How much money we need as a backup to start 220?" Put +50%, list it as a new project and make lot of fuzz to get backers.

Dear Tony,

Last time I checked, Hewes still made 70mm reels. That was a while back, though. Frances has a 6x7cm 70mm back for her Alpa...

Cheers,

R.

Roger,

Sorry I missed this when it was current. I have 4 15' 70mm reels two of them being Hewes. I bought the Hewes reels years ago through Calumet in Chicago.

I made a daylight tank for the reels out of an Omega print drum.

It works well - I just need to get a can of 70mm double perf and start shooting it again!

70mm loading/developping

70mm loading/developping

I would love to see 220 B&W but 70mm is a far easier solution. The 2013 ULF Ilford progam had 70mm double perf on the list but I'm not sure how much was ordered or produced. I will get a 70mm double perf order in for next years run.

In the 70's I would load my Hasselblad 70mm back with 25 frames of 6x6 and process it on a modified 35mm 36 exp reel. A poor man's 220 A24 back!
there is a solution to avoid the need of 2517 spool(70mm in 220 lenght, 172cm?): using three parts of 2500 jobo-reels.
5m or more depending thickness needs a special jobo 70/5m drums and loader. one kodak CN film vericolor HC can be spooled with 6.5m in 70mm cartridge. Linhofs reel has a slot.
Ilford should offer longroll 120 with a roll of backpaper for start and end.
if no other choice(e.g. cutting down 70mm) fuse two 120 and remove paper inbetween.
i will add 0.1mm transparent tape to kiev60 to get better flatness.

Just got two 70mm cutters from xkaes at aol.com. one is cutting centered(2 blades) leaving some perforation remains which could damage machines, second one is cutting only on one side(1 blade) leaving perforation on one side untouched.
have all kinds of 70mm backs. HB, Mamiya, Graflex. in HBs i have three, one is defective(sealing) i will take the holder and cut down the dents of image-counter-wheel to load unperforated 70mm film. centered cutting will be no problem anymore for labs.
Have special very thin agfa film for aerials to use with filters. no IR effect. avipan 200S if i dont err. have documentation. handling is a mess but should be no problem with patiences. i liked hp-combina which is loaded from center, film tongue being fixed there. could probably develop thin 220 there. for jobos or others
only reels must be dry...

I have a 70mm Kindermann Plastic Tank and SS reel I have used with great success in the past

I still have about 20 assorted rolls of 70mm films in my deep freeze.

Ferrania plans to bring its P 30 in 70mm-one day. then it would be easy also offering 61.5mm,. if not no problem one can cut down oneself. xkaes dot aol dot com let slitters made in china. it could be nice if someone could 3dprint a spoolholder.

The rollei IR 400 film works great as normal 400 Iso film without the red filter.
With a deep red IR filter you get nice white foilage, dark skies etc.
I strongly recommend the maco 400 IR Experience. ( of course it is available on 120 rolls too )
Macos Mr Junghans told me Rollei IR 400 70mm maybe not available anymore. They have some long rolls of 366m? 61.5mm Digibase 200? 12 x 30.5m film/thats the x-type Avicolor nonmasked Agfa Gevart-Mortsel-Belgium film. 70mm remains sold to US-Army. I dont know if 200 is underexposed X-100 or overexposed X-400. But who could cut to 12 pcs since nobody would need or could afford 12 rolls of 30.5m. avipan 80S seen as 61.5m 75m bulkware on ebay for 4 usd/m.
