kuuan,
Considered yourself very lucky if you are like me, an AKB48(2005-) fan and can fully enjoy their music, they are a Phenomenon...
Two of my favorite members, Maeda Atsuko, Oshima Yuko have since 'graduated'...I like Shimazaki Haruka 島琦瑤香 now, but, she is not a 'Center' yet...

well, I am not all that lucky then.. I checked out a few songs of them after I had run into this place in Namba, Osaka of which I had shown the shop window, a cafe and souvenir shop dedicated to the band. If I ever get back I shall check it out more closely, or watch a live performance of it's 'Osaka sister band' NMB48 nearby. ( btw. hadn't we been here before, maybe even in this very thread?)
Thank you for your links and sharing your enthusiasm.
In Tokyo once I joined a performance of a similar girl band in Shinjuku. They all were very young girls and amazingly cute while me, that time in my early 50s, clearly was one of the youngest man in the audience! next door was this place, a 'robot bar'. It's quite famous, maybe you know it

Hi kuuan,
I think, it's difficult for gaijin ojisan inc our men in Japan jon, mad-doc, porkchop-dog...to appreciate AKB48, that's alright, the songs and message behind AKB48 is from the 59 year old Akimoto Yashushi, the creator and producer...You are the only one that I know of in RFf to mention AKB48, that's why I'm a little carried away...

In one of their song 'give me five', Akimoto's lyrics wrote;
'no matter how many thousands of photos you took, you can not hold one significant thing...'

in the contrary, thank you very much for your emotional exposure and insights! - lack of appreciation usually is lack of scope, that's certain 😉 attitudes of "outsiders" towards e.g. girl bands may be rather marred by preconceived ideas and misunderstandings.

Thank you kuuan,
The other day i re-read Kawabada Yasunari's 'Dancing girl of Izu', after seeing one of the same titled movie version from 1974 (leading lady Yamakuchi Momoe was 14 when appeared in the movie),
in the novel, the dancing girl that fell in love w a 20 year old college boy was only 14 yrs old, Lolita she is not, the bitter sweet innocent love from a 'lower class' (in 1926) traveling dancer (for hire) make me think about the creator of AKB48, 59 year old Akimoto Yasushi, he's like that college boy from Dancing Girl of Izu...
