I've tried searching but w/out result, so I'm starting this thread to find out for myself and also for others that are located in Europe or are traveling to the old continent about your experiences with bookshops in European cities that are either specialized in photobooks or do stock them.

I'm only slowly starting my photobook collection and I tend to hesitate about purchasing books on the internet without seeing them, so I'd like to have some tips where to look for nice books - new or used - in major european cities like Paris, Milan, Berlin or Rome or perhaps also smaller cities especially in Germany..

Thank you for your help - I'm now in the process of finding about interesting places here in Prague.
Meanwhile - the publishing house TORST has an interesting edition called "FotoTorst" covering mostly Czech photographers, they are producing quite a nice series of paperbacks and some nice hardback volumes too I think. You can find more about them on their website: http://www.torst.cz/czech/index.php which I'm afraid is only in Czech, but you can use google translator or something similar..

When you are in The Netherlands try "De Slegte" in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Eindhoven or The Hague.

Second hand books and the "remainders" from publishing firms.

If you buy more than one book the price is negotiable.

Ahoi andreios,

some photobookstores for you:

www.schaden.com in Cologne

www.25books.com in Berlin

and "wortwahl", a great bookshop in munich.

And if you have a chance to visit the www.fotobookfestival.org next year, you will find more books than you`ll be able to look through in three days (;

Please let us know about good shops in Prague, too!

All the best,
andreas

Barcelona: Kowasa - I can't recommend it enough. The best photography bookshop I've ever been to. Large, 2 floors and several sections, nothing but photography books. My friend had to drag me out of there after I've spent over 3 hours browsing, and I was just getting started.

In Paris, la chambre claire located at 14, rue Saint-Sulpice - 75006 PARIS
Métros Odéon, Mabillon, Saint-Sulpice

I have not been there but there website is enormous!

This is becoming very interesting.. I see that nice bookshops could be another reason for traveling - apart from taking pictures.. :)

Merci for the address of that parisian shop - I'm going there next week. Und vielen Dank also für die Buchhandlungen in Deutschland!
