Canada, eh.
What do you think about this trade: it's basically 6 older rangefinders for a Bessa R and 2 lenses

Konica S2 + S3, Electro GTN + Prof, Canonet GIII QL 1.7 + 1.9 for:

Bessa R, Jupiter-9 35mm lens, CV25mm lens + finder

I've kind of had it with the older RF fixed lens cameras. The Konica S3 I'll miss the most. I still have an Oly 35RC, Rollie 35TE, and some others.

Hi Frank -- Someone is offering that Bessa package? There's a bit of confusion there with the Jupiter:
The J-9 is an 85mm f/2 http://www.fedka.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=24&products_id=318
The Jupiter-12 is a 35mm f/2.8 http://www.fedka.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=24&products_id=277

The Voigtlander 25mm f/4 Snapshot Skopar is a fine lens but it's not RF coupled. That hasn't kept RFF member Bertram from making a great series of urban landscapes, and it hasn't bothered me either except when intending wide-open aperture at close distances. I really do like the click-stops on the focusing ring!

take it and run!

i really like my bessa r.
i have the 35 & 75 combo and those lenses are very nice, good & sharp.
that 25 gets good reviews and i have no recollection of info re. the j-9 at this moment. (brain freeze)

you will be spoiled by the r. small, light & simple and so very easy to carry aound.
i sometimes feel guilty for not using it more.
it has become my 'dress up' camera for when i dress up & need to look better than my normal grubby self.

the canon gear has become my street gear.

FrankS,
Sounds like a great deal, DO IT. You can always re-acquire the others at your liesure - LOL.
Merry Christmas!!!

The CV 25/4 is wonderful. The fact it isn't RF coupled means I'm forced to pre-focus, and after a few days it started to come natural to me. No more need to aim, focus, shoot; just aim and shoot. Besides, the 25mm angle of view is just wide enough for really good street shots but not too wide and awkward to handle as a 15mm.

Bessa R are maigc!

Take it and run screaming with glee and joy...

Stu 🙂

The 35mm Jupiter lens is a J-12, sorry I mixed that up. I use scale focussing on my Fujica GS645W - no rangefinder on this wide-lens model, and I don't have a problem with that.

Thank you for your thoughts, the trade deal sounded good to me too, it's just reassuring to check out the opinions of the folks here.

I would say go for it too. I have seen some cracking shots with that CV 25 and the R will give you so much flexibility. Sounds like a great deal! 🙂

I didn't think a Jupiter-12 (35mm) would mount on a bessa without damaging the rear element or the camera's shutter?

I tried mounting my J-12 on my Bessa, and it does not work - I tried it with the shutter held open on B, to check whether the huge rear element will hit anything in the camera body, and the lens does mount close-focused, but there is no way it will reach infinity, since the rear element hits a ledge in the camera body when trying to focus farther away...

Thanks for that info. If the trade goes through I'll have to use it on another LTM body. Might even have to buy an FSU body. No, wait! What am I saying?

C'm on, Frank, you know well that any resistance is futile!
You will be assimilated!!!!
I can see you very soon discussing the finer points of Cyrillic calligraphy right here on RFF!!! 😀
