Nice photo. I like the location and composition. For my personal tastes, I think I would prefer the highlights be darkened a little bit. But I'm not sure how much you can darken it and still keep the detail I think you want, and probably need, in the dark areas.

But even so, I like it as it is.

I tried several curves and tweaks. While some showed the highlight areas more clearly, the Zone II-III regions either went flat and unsatisfying or were too dark. I like the balance this rendering gives.

... I find the highlights distracting too, and would have been happy to sacrifice some shadow detail to keep control of them ... that and the flat-footed stance of the chap in the middle distance with the half hidden stick
