i have a domke photo vest that saw the light of day much more when i shot with an slr. it was great for carrying lots of film, extra lenses and even the body when i needed a break. it held my cell phone, a pocket recorder (pearlcorder) and just so much stuff.

but with only 35mm rf cams to shoot i never pull it out to put on.

how bout you folks?
anyone use a photo vest with rf gear?

joe

I often do wear a vest as an outer garment except in winter, but none are of the pocket-rich fishing or photo vest type. A pocket might carry a meter and some film.

I do wear a vest sometimes. Not a photo vest but one I picked up while shooting at an agricultural fair in Yorkshire. Has a number of pockets and is much lighter than the photo vests I have seen. I find it handy even with RFs to spread the load and to save the weight on my shoulder. I've even been known to where it when not out shooting. How strange is that?

i quite like the vest.
i don't find it heavy and i've even added a few modifications to it.
i has some soft but durable fabric sewn into the collar, feels nice on my neck and i had some 'flaps' with buttons sewn onto the shouldars to keep camera straps up there without sliding down.
i just find i travel so much lighter with an rf that i don't use it much now.

Oh NOOOOO, I would never do that?

If it good enough for Herb Keppler, it should be good enough for all of us.

ooh, that hurt!

anyone wanna buy a vest?

For just walking about town with only an RF, no.
But, if it's a situation where I might need a water bottle, extra film, small binoculers, etc, then I would choose a vest or a small backpack/fannypack.

I once went to a press lunch years ago when I was a photo editor for a travel magazine. It was given by Olympus if memory serves me well. The folks from Modern Photography were there. Out of all do respect, lets say it was embarrassing to look at these guys and leave it at that.

Leave the vest at home in the closet. Give it to charity.

:)

with RF equipment, I find that a small shoulder bag and Old Navy Cargo pants with plenty of pockets is all I need. Oh, and shades, to look cool. I find vests make me look like I'm shooting a safari commercial for L.L. Bean or Orvis ;-)

kbg32,
I know this might be hard to believe, but some of us dress for ourselves and don't give damn what "GQ" or anyone else thinks ~ ; - )

My point exactly.

Geek cloths. ;)

Sorry Rover,
Despite what some of the Fab 5 might think, I'll still wear mine ~ ; - )

And the front pocket comfortably hold my S&W too ~ ; - 0

BTW- I wounldn't pay for a Domke, I got mine on-line for $29.
I've never been to an Opera, don't ever want to, thanks.
I have been to a Merle Haggard and Leon Redbone concert though
~ ; - )

Hey, this round Italian guy needs no help from my cloths to look like a geek. I just want others to consider that potential. The first step is to admit that you have a problem. I have done that and just want to help.
