Are the used cameras in photovillage and tamarkin supose to be in perfect conditon and cheking the camera is like a confirmation?

thanks guys!

I can speak to the camera I just purchased from Tamarkin, M6TTL rated as Mint -, and my recent purchase. When I asked the salesperson, Craig by the way, to compare a few cameras we had discussed he indicated that mine was the cleanest in his eyes, but had the plastic removed from the bottom, the others still were in their "wrapper" (also Mint - and Excellent+ all more or less the same price). Wanting a camera to feel comfortable using, I chose appropriately. I have to say, other than a couple fingerprints, my camera is like new in my eyes.

I am confident that both Tamarkin and Photo Village rate their used cameras accurately. Craig mentioned a number of times in the 3 or 4 conversations we had that Tamarkin wants to be sure that their customers are happy and have the right camera for them. He repeated the 10 day return without question test period and warranty provided with the purchase. I found both Tamarkin and Photo Village to be respectful of what I was looking for and my budget and didn't pressure me in the sale in any way. My opinion is that they know they are selling a highly reputable item, purchased by individuals looking for the best, and so they are looking to satisfy that need in us.

I just dealt with Tamarkin this past week. I spoke with a salesperson on the phone and he made sure he had the cameras in his hand. He was very straightforward about condition and appearance. He even offered information about the camera that I hadn't asked, and not only positive information.

And he did not initiate the sale, so to speak- he waited for me to say whether or not I wanted it. No pressure. He was very patient.

However, the one discrepancy is regarding return privilege. I was told over the phone that the period for returns (for any reason) was 15 day, as opposed to the 10 days in the above post. Yet, the website says it's 3 weeks. Hmmm. But there also is a short warranty on used stuff as well, I believe.

Bottom line was that I felt comfortable with my purchase. I still have to develop the film I put through it to make sure everything is OK. But what's important is that I do not feel I am "stuck with a lemon" if everything's not.

thomas, you are probably right about the 15 days. I am going from memory, which at 5:45am is very spotty for me. Sometimes I think I shouldn't post before 8:00am.

When I was shopping, I called all the reported big reputable dealers and feel they all treated me well. It was a good shopping experience for me.

I bought my M6TTL used from Photo Village and had a similar experience to rover's with Tamarkin. I had a choice of two M6s when I was buying and Rich Pinto spent about 15 minutes on the phone with me describing the two bodies in great detail (one was mint and the other mint-). I ended up buying the mint- later that day and the cam was exactly as described. I would recommend Photo Village - you pay $100 or so above the going rate but these dealers are reputable and IMO well worth the extra money for your peace of mind. Almost 2 years later my M6 is going great and I am very pleased with the purchase.
