I joined photobucket to host my images about 10 years ago. It was ok for the longest time, but the last few months have been horrible. Non stop pop up ads and redirects unless you pay for their premium service, and the site has been off line for about 80% of the time. No explanations given, even when asked. Then about a week ago I got an email thanking me for my patience (I'm sure this went out to all their users) and that they had resolved all their issues.
That lasted about 5 days, now the site kicks you out every time you try to upload or edit an image. Looking at the online comment forums, I am not alone. I could not even imagine paying for their premium service and having to deal with this. The users who have done that are really really pi$$ed off.

It really is strange how that site has fallen apart instead of getting better.

I've been using it for the past two or three years. Use it so I can upload images here and another forum. Since its free, I put up with pop ups and annoying ads. It is painfully slow loading images to my library.

No apology email sent to me, so you must be one of their valued subscribers:)

Same here.

I still use it - also as a test of my own mental sanity:D

Try Flickr and if you really don't want to, try Ipernity.

The late Stuart (Sparrow on RFF, RIP) used Ipernity iirc. Seemed to always work.

I agree, it's gotten far worse over the years. I use Flickr as my main photo host when I place "serious" photos. Only when I need to post an image on a bulletin board that requires you to use another host site for that image and i do not want it on Flickr, do I even bother with the "rust bucket." It is clunky and ugly, not otherwise worth bothering with.

Agreed. Photobucket has gotten pretty bad.

Ipernity was good, but scads of users left for Flickr when new limits were imposed for free (non-"Pro") accounts and Pro account fees were increased.

I've long used photbucket as well, and agree, they are now impossible. One pop up in particular that requires me to just reload the page. Was wondering about a different site, but haven't tried looking yet

Same here. It has gone to the dogs in a big way, just like Flicker went nuts a few years ago. For all the fawning people do over the so called geniuses that run these internet companies, they act like the village idiot more often than not.

It keeps signing me out too every time I close it. Fortunately it's simply an inconvenience as I switched to doing everything in a darkroom years ago and almost never post an online image anywhere.

Flickr is still the absolute worst photo hosting site out there, except for all of the others! :) I've kinda gotten used to its quirks and I use it mostly for hosting images used elsewhere.

I've used Photobucket for years, I use one of their payment services, 99c per month. When I let that lapse for a while last year I noticed a distinct downgrade in performance. It seems they do look after paying customers better than non-paying ones.

It may not be the best site out there but it suits my purposes.

Following my response on this thread, more recently I had cause to use Photobucket once more. You are quite right this is now the worst photo hosting site ever. Slow and buggy in addition to being ugly, which is something I alluded to in my earlier post.

Uploading a simple small image requires almost infinite patience and while I succeeded in the end, it was a job which took about 30 minutes and should have taken 2 minutes. Horrid.

I use Photo Bucket only for the forums that require you to link to the url hosting your photos. The site and the forums that won’t let you post a photo from your computer make things way too difficult.
