Photographer Sirkka-Liisa Konttinen (Photographing Byker, 1974)

Thank you Pan. I enjoyed her photographs.

Wonderful find!

Excellent ...love her 'Eye', her way of seeing
Beautiful Woman, Beautiful Photographs !!
Enjoyed watching her shoot the pub scene ...

Thank You Pan ~

Poignant documentary. Valuable work by a dedicated photographer showing the inner world of a community and local culture as forces from an outer world impose change.

Thanks for posting this, Pan.

Pretty girl with a nice Nikon F in a photogenic neighbourhood, but I did not see much of her work. Her English was very good for a Finnish girl.

Erik.

Erik, you know what I think about your photography work, but in this sentence, I can not be quiet.

I think "pretty" is out of context. I think it's not about if she is pretty or not. I have never heard something in this way about a man. I see her like a photographer in this thread, when I see her photographic work.

Warmest regards,
Xabier.

I hope you will understand what I'm trying to say.

Echoing what was already said above, it's quite an accomplishment to be able to include so many pretentious perspectives into two sentences. :)

So, you say she was merely shooting fish in a barrel then? Also, in your view is it just the girls or also the men in Finland who do not speak good English?

In any case, you didn't think it would have been prudent to maybe check some of her work out before commenting her looks?

I do not think Eric meant to sound 'sexist'
though I am surprised he did not fall in love with her photos in the video, some were quite striking !

as for Me, oh dear, I said "Beautiful Woman, Beautiful Photographs"
So my Question:
does that ring different because I am a woman saying she is Beautiful
OR am I sounding 'sexist' too

Today's World is very critical... and when things move further into 'cancel culture' it is sometimes good sometimes VERY bad

I largely agree, todays ´cancel culture´is cancer, so to speak. But I personally didn't think he appeared sexist, merely pretentious.

I ment to say that her pictures were shown only a fraction of a second. The documentary was much more about Newcastle and its people. The photographer became second and her pictures third.

Erik.

Personally, I wouldn't hesitate to call a pretty lady "pretty", a smart kid " smart" or a handsome man "handsome". We need to celebrate beauty even if it is in the eyes of the beholder.

I agree with Helen that what Erik meant to convey is different from how it may have been perceived.
