Well, not really viral, but an email titled "A Thanksgiving Greeting from the Photographers Formulary and Standing Stones B&B" reached my inbox. It was sent to a large mailing list. Several people did a Reply All, and so I got their emails, too. Now the inevitable emails, sent to all, labeled "Do Not Replay to All" are starting to appear.

This is when good intentions go awry. :bang:

In any case, I hope Photographers Formulary and Standing Stones B&B have a great Thanksgiving, as well as all the other people on their mailing list.

by doing so they might have ended black listed by ISP:s for spamming. email campaigns and news letters aren't that hard to do these days. MailChimp is one options.

Apple's email server marked it as possible spam when I received the email at my @mac.com address.

This reminds me of an email flood that happened this year when I worked at a large international corporation. An outside company sent an email to a very large list of this corporation's employees and contractors. Sending a reply to that email generated an auto-reply from the original sender saying they received your email and would get back as soon as possible. About 30 people did a reply all saying "This has nothing to do with me", and then another 40 people did a reply all saying "Do Not Reply All." It went on for 4 days. Over a hundred emails. I found it amusing.

We can beat that:
An IT "bod" or perhaps "bodess" sent a test e-mail three days ago to all, all 1.2million NHS employees in the UK generating the inevitable reply to all etc etc estimated 186 million useless e-mails were generated. it was described as “high severity service incident”
