Photographers' Gallery, London: RIP Sue Davies

A shame - I love that place, even though I discovered it rather later than I should. Apart from the wonder of the exhibitions and the superb selection of films in the shop, the cakes and coffee in the cafe were as good as anywhere in London.

(I suspect I've probably spent as much on cakes and good coffee while out shooting than I have on film. Their priorities are correct!)

all my times in London..never knew ,never went...sad
would have loved to have met her
Well at least Sue created her vision, Photography came to Life in her space

I guess the British sun is kind. I would never have guessed Sue was a similar age to my parents, she looked and seemed much younger. I met Sue once, in 1990, when I snuck away from a school trip in London. I nearly got sent home to Australia for heading out on my own, but it was worth it, even if, I am sure, the teachers and Christian Brother who accompanied us boys would not believe to this day that I was at a museum. She was a true inspiration, and that she talked a 15 year old runaway how to become a photographer will always be with me, even if I didn’t exactly end up a photographer. Amazing person, and a help to everyone who wants to see great photography.

Love The Photographer's Gallery, have spent many the hour in the galleries and many a pound in the bookshop.

RIP Sue.

Been there quite a few times the last few years. Great place as well as great exhibits, great store, great little cafe in a really weird location. I mean, right off Oxford Street. I even gave a roll of bulk loaded Eastman XX to someone there.
