Ha... It got a rating of 5/5. I'd love to know what all the nay-sayers and doomsdayers think of the conclusions of this review...
To quote;
"The Fujifilm Finepix X100 is one of the most surprising, appealing and well-realised cameras of recent times, offering a compelling mix of intuitive handling, impeccable image quality, and a truly innovative viewfinder. That's not to say that you should all rush out and buy one - by its very nature a retro-styled, film-inspired 35mm fixed lens camera with a leaning towards street photography will limit the X100's natural audience, along with the rather eye-watering price-tag, slightly sluggish auto-focusing, slow write speeds and merely average video mode. But if you're still reading this far, you'll be pleased to know that the Fujifilm Finepix X100 really does live up to its pre-launch hype."
"All of the nice handling touches and cutting-edge technologies in the world wouldn't matter if the X100 didn't deliver the goods in terms of image quality, but thankfully the X100 scores a bullseye in terms of the photos that it produces. Noise is noticeable only by its almost complete absence throughout the ISO range of 100-12,800, while the Dynamic Range function helps to boost contrast and detail. The 23mm lens is sharp from the center to the edges, while the F/2 maximum aperture makes it easy to creatively throw the background out of focus. The X100 is right up there with the best APS-C sensor cameras on the market."
They certainly got it all right with this cam.

Well-known
This is certainly how I have found mine so far. Is a superb tool, even had it in my golf bag this morning and managed a couple of shots while the wife wasn't looking. Is small enough for me to take everywhere. The panoramic function works very nicely as well.

The best camera is one that still works!
With no predicted arrival date for my camera from the supplier now ... this is all becoming a little frustrating!
Must be patient!

Read the actual review: "We'd put it on a par with the Panasonic Lumix GF1 and it's 20mm kit lens in terms of auto-focusing speed, which is faster than the Leica X1 and the early Olympus PEN cameras, but certainly not as quick as a DSLR "
IE, the speed is what everyone expected. (admittedly, I would prefer active IR like the HExar AF, but am under no illusion that contrast-detection would out-do it)

A lot of people on this forum use old AF film point and shoots - none of which would be anywhere near as quick as the x100 in AF. They say it matches the panasonic gf1 w/20mm, and thats certainly quick enough for anyone.

It's easy for me to say I realise
but I don't find the price tag exactly eye watering! That's the X1's territory!
If I currently had full time employment I would definitely have been 'in like Flynn' as they say!

well for us leica users its actually cheap costing less than a 2nd hand 35 summicron asph. I think it is slightly misleading on the AF front. it maybe be slightly slow in regards to DSLR but is quick for this type of camera. It would appear to trump the X1 all areas except for size and they were impressed with the IQ. Personally I can't wait as it ticks all the boxes of what I need and if it lives up to my expectations will probably end up selling the 35 summicron to cover the costs. The slow write speeds don't really worry me as I rarely use continuous mode and prefer to try and catch the moment myself than machine gun it and hope for the best. Well done fuji and watch out leica.
