Photography's visual culture: ads and images of the photography world of past decades

There is a strong visual culture surrounding photography. It is a bit strange because photographers, by definition, are creators of images. However, photography itself also has a very specific visual culture that in the 1960s, 70s, 80s and 90s was predominantly based on advertisement printed images in magazines, posters (think of bus stops, 1-hour photo stores, camera stores, etc.).

I was wondering if there is already a thread on this topic in RFF. I haven't seen it, but I was thinking it would be cool to start a thread to post images of that visual culture of past decades. These could include advertisements for cameras, films or anything aimed at photographers (professional or amateur) but also images that were used (particularly in magazines) where photographic equipment was glamorized.

I am posting one example of what I'm talking about here. I remember this image clearly and I think it is what made me want a Contax compact camera since I was a teenager: an image of Milla Jovovich in the mid-1990s posing with her T2 🙂
