This forum is where I learned that not all Leica owners are obnoxious! You guys even put up with Contax folks.

Robert

And Argus C3 folks and Canon folks and FSU folks and . . .

It has always seemed to me the Leica forum is more about "possessing" than "using." Maybe that explains the difference in attitude.

if i weren't so bland and gray i'd be insulted but i choose rather to be amused.

you pompous ass!

HAH!! That's precious. I almost choked on my lunch, Joe. I'm surprised you got through the filter.

I Just had to check Joe's rebuttal, Nicely done Sir!!
and I thought I'd quote your Post here to save others from having to
go overthere to search for it! 😀

Other forums like rangefinderforum.com or Leica's official forum have members that all dress the same grey, have the same opinions, and as such never contradict each other.

respect is a wonderful thing and at rff we choose to respect each other rather than play games with each other. and the moderation at rff is mostly hands off as there is usually little need to be an enforcer.

this forum is fine and i come here every day to see what is going on. i have no ill will towards most here but some are just fools and would be fools no matter what the hobby or forum they play on.

"you pompous ass!" Love that! If I didn't know better I'd have said you were British 😀

Hmmm. Can I disagree with some of the opinions spouted here? I really think you guys are a bunch of... aah, wait! This isn't the PN Leica forum! It's RFF! And I agree with Socke, and with the others.

Maybe I'm just too soft for the arena of PN's Leica forum. I'm more of a lover than a fighter. 🙂

Here's what someone over there thinks about us:

"PN's Leica forum is marked above all for the colours of its contributors. Other forums like rangefinderforum.com or Leica's official forum have members that all dress the same grey, have the same opinions, and as such never contradict each other."

Just for the record, I'm wearing blue jeans and a plaid shirt today, and I don't agree with everything Joe says.

Honestly Frank, I'm sorry to disagree but I KNOW that you're wearing plaid jeans and a blue shirt today... 😛

I visit and quite enjoy many of the good threads there, love coming here and enjoy many others, because the thing itself is easy, it's not the forum, it's the people. Nice people can be found all around, and then, elements like that one there can also be found everywhere from time to time.

The solution there and in real life, with of course the greatest respect and education, is to grab the Pentacon Six and bash them bash them bash them with it 😀

Hey just kidding, make love and peace 😎

*GASP* you mean there are Contax people here?!

That pretty much explains why I don't go there any more. Not, in fact, since discovering this forum. An awful lot of those on the other forum have amazingly high opinions of themselves -- possibly, in some cases, because no-one else has. I can face gratuitous insults with more equanimity than I used to, but why bother? The purpose of a forum, after all, is to correspond with like-minded people and to learn. I do not learn well in an atmosphere of constant rudeness.

Cheers,

Roger (www.rogerandfrances.com)

Lets take some great pics with our worst rangefinders and post them on PNet Leica forum claiming they were shot with Leicas...That would keep them busy for months arguing about sharpness and bokeh...

well, thanks for the kind words.
i was a little miffed and i had had my morning coffee.

normally i let that crap just sit there and smell but it really pissed me off.
finally a site for shooters and gearheads to chat without fear of ridicule or smart ass remarks, where people are treated with respect EVEN IF THEY USE LEICAS, and where that attitude is governed BY THE MEMBERSHIP and that guy thinks we are bland sheep.

it's actually more sad than not...

anyway, it's all over, nothing more to see here, time to move along...(that's my cop on the beat impression)

I'm not a Leica owner or user (possibly a Bessa owner soon, thus disqualifying me from future participation in the PN Leica forum) but I often lurk in the w/nw Leica forums on PN. I enjoy the photos very much - there is some nice work over there - but reading those threads is a drag sometimes.

That said, I think Rob's idea in post #29 is AWESOME! I've got some blurred OOF shots taken with my FED-2/I-26m which I could caption as "Fruit Stand - Rainy Day" and use to start a new w/nw thread. How long do you think we'd last before we got caught?

Probably till a PNet member who also comes here reads this thread. Otherwise, I don't think it will be possible to tell.

A lot of the S/D guys had been posting on the Leica forum for a long time, and only recently admitted they'd been shooting with SLR's all along. You can't tell, especially on a monitor.

"I hate all of you, you are all a bunch of unsavoury idiots!!!!"
There is that enough colour?
Oh I feel abit faint now... let me go lie down.. all that conflict is too much for me...

Nick

I'll put it this way: even if I did own a Leica, the last place I'd go to actually post *anything* about it would be PN. It isn't that I dislike PN...it's more that I dislike the arrogant "people".

The official Leica owner's forums, though, are another story. They can be very nice.

Photo.net can be useful... and would be better if some members didn't feel the need to snipe at posters, no matter what they ask. On a couple of cases I've been shot at for no apparent reason other than some poster's feeling cranky that day.

So, like Joe, I lurk there, post ocassionally... but always come back to this forum.

And one last thing: the official Leica forum was the tops when it comes to immaturity a while ago. To describe it as grey only refers to their software background. It was so bad I stopped reading altogether! 😱

But not this one! People are pretty kind here... even when they disagree! 😀

Kinda like the U.S. midwest... 😉

Thanks, joe!

I've used PN for years now. I use it for one reason.
A place to put-up tons of my photos to refer friends and relatives who'd like to see my shots. I'll probably put up an album of wedding shots too, for prospective clients to check-out my work.
I also sometimes critique and browse other folks pics, but I can't stand and very rarely use the forums there.
RFF is the best place on the WEB ! Here that Jorge? Do I win anything now - LOL?

I find the 'classic cameras' forum on photo.net much much better than the leica, although it's newer. The volume gets close to the leica forum already, the people are very kind and helpful, never have seen a flame war over there. Lotsa interesting questions and answers (to me, at least). Whatever question i would ask, there will be a weird guy who will know the answer! amazing. I can recommed it to any rff member.

Take it easy, joe, not worth it to get pissed off of such a remark. Just as said above, gray can have a multitude of tones. In fact, gray makes possibler to have black and white photography!
