Looks like a Northeaster will coincide with Saturday's PhotoPlusExpo.
Wednesday is an interesting fashion event that might involve me in a campaign.
"Maggie" will be heading out to London shortly.
Yesterday I found an envelope that was marked "$4,500.00 Rent." When I opened the envelope there was a wad of lottery tickets (pick-4, numbers). The early date are October 15th and many recent tickets in this stack.
I have to check for winners today. Seems like from an episode of "God Friended Me." The stack of tickets is over an inch thick. How crazy is this?

But it's quite amazing, you also found that Contax T.
I've never found much more than a few bucks around, aside of dog turds
BTW guessing location restriction, so I had to check the video at Youtube. Will be looking for the other speakers and about SRAM.
Bicycles are a fantastic transportation medium.

Jorde,
Pretty much in undeveloped countries it beat walking and allowed many things to happen. Really amazing how something so simple allowed and helped groups of people prosper.
I went through about a dozen tickets: all losers. I think since I can go by date it might be faster to use the internet and just sort by date. All are October.
So "Maggie" is throwing in the academic towel. I'm glad that she can move onto enjoying her new exciting life. Her blog has become a rewarding source of revenue. No need to collect Social Security until age 70.

Congrats to her! Glad to know the crazy dream is going on.
She's also an inspiration on being an "outsider" in the industry and sincerely being succesful. Dayjob is dayjob and ordinary, If I could I'd do the same manoeuvre.
Found the SRAM talk. How curious that I've been acquainted with the brand et al but didn't know the name of the cofounder FK Day.

Jorde,
After the election things looked really negative and bleak. The TED-Talks turned me around.
Really learned to appreciate how one person or a few can really make a difference.
With the SRAM TED-Talk there was a large difference in the outcomes of villages as far as quality of life. Also met people who displayed true leadership and put themselves out there.
Really simple technology created huge change.

MFM,
Now it is my turn. There is already pressure for me to retire early so I can travel. Also "Maggie" thinks we can be marketed as an interesting couple.
Tomorrow night might be an opportunity for me. I seem to be "a person of interest."

Let us know. A different not so boring dayjob seems very interesting. I'd dream of that! You might miss Mr. Magoo however?
Having a properly planned retirement already, you could well do it. AFAIK the US doesn't have a formal retirement scheme like Europe. I remember hearing how critical it can be for a middle aged person to become unemployed the last decade prior retirement: Loses a lot of the pension quota.
You should get some of your stories around

Jorde,
Mister Magoo (AKA How-Weird) is now a tamed-bully. Really no hassle now that he is a "short-timer" at full retirement age. The sich-E-A-tion is that when he leaves, what happens to Calvin?
Ideally I would be without a regular day-job and have a source of income so I don't have to collect my pensions or Social Security until I'm 70. Having been poor I know I don't need a lot of money to be happy, and I already wisely have a stockpile of all kinds of treasures that will provide pleasure the rest of my life.
"Woman Factor" is an issue that I have to plan around. If by myself I could stop working right now and go live cheaply in some part of the world or U.S. living on my savings till I'm 70.
I figure the longer I work the more money and possibilities I'll have. Currently NYC isn't too shabby. Know that I'm already happy and kinda retired.
Like my friend Dave said, "I come to work to rest."

Back in the day when there was the "Cold War" I was a bit of a workaholic, and I had a reputation of being like a Navy SEAL but my operations were held within a Fortune 500 Company, called Grumman that at the time was the fourth largest aerospace company in the U.S.
There definitely was a military like culture there and I riffed off that. One time my boss gave me an assignment/task and asked when did I think I could get it done. I told him, "By the end of the day."
This is why my boss loved me. I never let him down, and pretty much I had a lot of power, as well as many people who did not like me. I was a brutal man back then.
Some back story is that my friend Dave that I mentioned above was an old guy and when I first met him I was in my early twenties.
Dave had this other expression, "Working hard, or hardly working?"
One time I went to see my boss because I had nothing to do. Joe told me to visit the Bethpage Library, get a library card, and take out a book to read.
Like combat duty, intense stress followed by mindless boredom... "Working hard, or hardly working..."
Interesting to note at a National Lab my boss wrote in my annual review that I was "like a small army of technicians" because of all the work I was able to get done.

After work, I'm picking up my bib to do the 40 mile Tour de Bronx on Sunday. The offer a 25 mile bike ride also, but I need the time in the saddle.
Don't know if I'll get rained on. The predicted Northeaster is expected to dump rain on Saturday.
I'll be using my IBIS set up as a single speed.
Lately I've been feeling serious love for my Nikon F3P with Noct-Nikkor and my Leica SL2-MOT with 50 Lux-R "E60." Love these chunky old SLR's for their VF'ers with normal lenses.

About 12 years ago I found $1,380 on the floor near my bank. I asked the bank manager if anyone had just cashed/withdrawn over $1,000. He came back holding a piece of paper with the number 1,380. I handed over the money. The guy who lost it called to thank me and wanted to give me a tip - which I refused - and to make this story perfect - it was Xmas shopping money.
Now, whoever lost those lottery tickets is in a world of hurt with their friends/co-workers for whom he purchased the tickets. I doubt it would be hard to find the person. As such, I don't think finding the envelope was good luck for you - quite the opposite.

Dan,
I am feeling no guilt. So far all the tickets are losers. LOL.
Also know that if I had some kind of grand windfall like winning a lottery jackpot my life would be only marginally different.
I'd have a darkroom, a hot car, and a macho truck. Other than a humble place to call home I already own enough bicycles, cameras, guitars, bass'es and amps. I have enough good clothes I've been saving.
For a car a GT 350, mostly because the engine rev's to 8K, the exhaust from that flat plane crank sounds awesome, and it is nimble enough for me.
A Ford Raptor which is basically a F150 set up to do off-road desert at high speed.
How much money or stuff does one need to be happy? I'm really happy now already.
Like my now deceased "Evil-Beagle" I'm my own dog and pretty much untrainable.

LOL - on losing tickets. Nonetheless - they're very valuable to the person who lost them so he/she doesn't have to refund money and a lot of grief to people he/she was buying tickets for.

Dan,
I don't think this was some office pool like you suggest. The forensics point to someone with a gambling problem that likely was poor. Mostly numbers boxed and straight, and Win4.
At Grumman back decades ago when the Lotto was first created there was this drop-hammer operator who won a 2.2 million dollar jackpot. To his credit you would not know that this man was a millionair. He still came to work.
His job was feeding sheets of heat-treated aluminum (softened by heating in huge ovens and allowed to cool slowly). He would line up the two holes over the two pegs and pushed two buttons, one with each hand at the same time, to prevent having them crushed with 200 tonnes of force as a large airplane part was stamped into a die.
Imagine doing that for 40 or so years. The force of the drop hammer's stroke shook the floor each time those two buttons were pushed. Really crazy to watch.
So if I won some big jackpot I too would keep my job and still go to work, but my task and sense of purpose would be to come to work just to annoy my boss. LOL.
BTW I acually told him this.
Another funny story is that my boss and I would donate blood at the hospital where we work once a month. My boss is an odd-ball and rather awkward.
One day when we are donating blood he tells me that he is so handsome, so I turn to the nurse and the philbotomist and directly ask them, "Between the two of us who is the better looking man?"
Both women said I was vastly more handsome. The younger one used the word cute. Pretty much my boss took this as insult, especially since I was laughing. He didn't think it was funny. Ha-Ha.
So when the nurse takes his blood pressure, she inquires if he is on medication, and tells him that his blood pressure is a bit high and that he might want to make an appointment to see his doctor.
How-Wierd's response in an angry tone was, "My blood pressure is high because I'm forced to work with him." Howard pointed to me. LOL.
So one thing about me is I tend to either bring out the best or the worst in people. People like Joe says I draw out the crazies. Pretty much what Joe says is true.
