I'm in Kurdistan for a few months. Took these with a Leica M6 (acquired before the trip) and a CV Nokton 40mm. Kurds love street photographers -- go figure.

I like them all. The middle one, of the man rebuilding the engine by hand, it a great example of how things are done in 2nd & 3rd world nations, with elbow grease and ingenuity. Thanks for posting these, hope to see more.

I like the second one allot. That guy has a great face but I wish the angle of the photo was a bit different. Was it a quick shot and then move on type of thing?

Whata ya mean 3rd world? It wasn`t "that" long ago that I hand lapped valves to get a perfect seal, along with measuring bearing crush on big-ends and main bearings. Great photos, I like the second one the best, see above. Keep your head down man and safe trip home.

Thank you for the comments. Actually, Northern Iraq (or Kurdistan) seems quite safe, and the people here are very friendly. These are quick shots with a 40mm using a 35mm framelines. It works well, but sometimes I think, "If only I had a 35 instead." The main problem shooting here -- if you want to look at it that way -- is that once someone notices you taking pictures, impromptu portrait sessions follow. The place does have a great atmosphere for street shooting, though, and the countryside surrounding the cities is quite beautiful. Thanks again for looking.

Here are a few more. The first one is from the electrical grid. I wonder how Virginia Power would fix a power outage here...
