Hello everybody.....I finally got a scanner (coolscan 8800f) and I am still trying to figure out how to use it properly. I am sure as I use it more and play around with the settings, I will be able to make better scans ...but until then.....I wanted to share some photos from a recent trip that I took to Laos....I will be posting a lot more photos as I get a chance to scan them....

It was my first time ever shooting with more than one Leica...I brought an m3 and an m6ttl with a 15mm, 35mm nokton, 50mm rigid and a 90mm summicron...I left my 28mm at home....to be honest, I did not enjoy being limited by the m3 when I wanted to use the nokton...I put tape over the window and used the whole viewfinder....it worked ok, but i didn't like the fact that I couldn't focus very close with the m3 finder and the nokton...anyways....it was a fun trip....cheers, michael
 
Some really timeless shots in there. I feel transported.

The first two shots have a really different color cast to them, but both are xp2. Was that conscious post processing?
 
Michael, very nice series ! Timeless, I agree. It seems you used the 35mm most of the time ? A question about your scanner, is it the Coolscan 8000ED or a Canon flatbed scanner ?

Hello Gabor and thanks for the compliment.....my scanner is the 8800f canoscan (Canon)....it is a flatbed scanner.....and to be honest, I have no idea how to use it yet.....I am going to expierement with it later tonight....I do not have much experience scanning images and I am sure that things would look nicer if I knew what I was doing.....to be honest, I prefer printing in a darkroom....but, I have been putting off purchasing a scanner for years now and I broke down yesterday and bought one...it was not expensive at all and I do not plan on doing any printing with it...I just want to scan my images and put them up online......by the way, if anybody has tips or advice..PLEASE let me know whats up.....

Beautiful pictures, Michael! I'm headed to SE Asia myself in a couple of weeks--going to Sarawak. There is something elemental, and it's not just the subject matter, about how these pictures look. Like I said: beautiful.

This is a nice picture series of Lao and great work.
I live in Bangkok, Thailand and just only about 600-700 km to the border
but I don't have opportunity to be there. Someone tell me that
walking in Luang Pra Bang is seem like go back to the past that hard to see
in the morndern day. Your pictures really nice.

Hello Anat...thanks for the message...Luang Prabang is an interesting city and the architecture and the general ambiance of the city can make one feel that it is like "going back in the past". If you live in Bangkok (and especially if you are Thai), then I would recommend a trip there, it has an interesting history and yes, it can be a very photogenic place. cheers....michael
