Photos, Not Thumbnails, in Thread

The policy seems to dither, but you actually DO it this way:
Post your image to an independent URL. I use Flickr; my own website doesn't work. I grab the URL from the "all sizes" option at Flickr (the bottom one), and then, using the "go advanced" option here, I click on "Insert Image"- the sun-and-mountain icon - paste the Flickr URL in, and voilà.
I really like seeing the images full-size in the posts; not everyone does, though, I gather.
Good luck!

Thanks, Lynn. I may give it a try just out of curiosity to see if I can get it to work for me. Normally, I use thumbnails because the thread loads a lot faster that way.

Here is a flower image that I would like to try to insert into the response.

If you don't have another server to upload your photos to but still want to display full sized images you can attach the files to your post and then link to the attachments with a normal -tag. This trick works on most forums.

Once the files are uploaded to the forum just copy the links, they look like this:
http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29829

Then edit your post and add this where you want the image:
[.img]http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29829[./img]

edit: I just copied an attachment from this thread in order to demonstrate.

I have used typed-in links successfully, but the images only appear if one clicks on the link. My attempt at using the Insert Image box did not produce an image. I will try once more, but perhaps it will not work with my gallery.

Hi...
Thanks for opening this thread.

I'm going to try lynn's method via fickr.

I'd like to call attention to GregB's newly scanned images in the Photoshop - Darkroom forum. The pix are all b & w, not to big and flow from one to the next, nicely.

Ciao,
Mike

I put thumbs in whenever possible since it makes the board easier to read for those on dialup connections.
While on the road for a couple of weeks, I got stuck with really poor dialup connections (28800 was about tops) and RFF threads with full-size images were nearly impossible to read. Thumbs made opening other threads much less of a chore.
