Last week I dropped off some film at my local CVS. Asked for prints and a CD. Was told "no problem" went to pick up the stuff earlier today.
What a surprise I got: prints/negs and floppy discs😱
After some discussion with the manager, the negs are going out to the lab and being scanned to CD. Apparently the 1 hour machine they have in the store doesn't make CDs just floppy discs. And the girl behind the counter thought she was being helpful by not sending the film out but doing it in house.
And to top it off, the final price will be less than if I had paid for the floppys. I might have taken the photos, etc. but I don't have a floppy drive in this computer. Maybe next time I'll ask for punch cards😀

Wow...the quality of the scans couldn't have been that good if she was able to fit them on floppy discs. I mean, how much do those store? 1.44mb?

there were a bunch of them and the resolution is (I think) all of 320x640?
Not the end of the world but it was certainly surprising!

used to have a fd digicam

used to have a fd digicam

It was a sony mavica, and used 3.5" floppy discs for the medium, was low res, but very convenient, spent a few days and nights uploading them all to hdd, and later burning cdr, dvdr. Great cameras for the time, about 4 years ago.
