Photos you wish you had taken?

Any photograph with a jukebox in it, such as this one by Bruce Davidson.
 
Certainly not anyone else’s work, the thought has never entered my mind since I hold my own.

But one photo I wish I took was one of a cart pulling character named “Sundowner Bob” while on assignment in New Mexico. He was so rough looking he was needlessly intimidating to me. The next morning while in a coffee shop I overheard someone saying he had died that night…
 
Well, I think this ends up being more of a favorite photographs thread then ones you wish you took...

Very true.

Probably my all time favorite image, Minor White's "Windowsill Daydreaming". It was the first image when I got into photography that I recognized that a photograph could be more then just a depiction of what is out there. I promised myself that someday I would own a copy. I did come across one many years ago that was affordable, but the surface of the print was heavily spotted with Spotone. I had to pass it up.

I was a child when I saw Bill Brandt's Halifax chimney photo and a light switched on in my heart and mind. Art hadn't been mentioned to me before, it was a wonderful discovery. I still love that photo.
 
There are many great ways to answer this question and I have am enjoying this thread very much.

Favorite photos are great. Shots you wished you got are great.

"Photographs Not Taken" is an interesting collection of photographers discussing images they didn't make and how they feel about it.
