I would this thread to be about the pictures you have taken with EASTMAN XX 5222.

I know there is a thread in the Film section on how you shoot EASTMAN XX 5222, But, This is more of a image thread,
not a How-to thread. Though I would like a little metadata if you would...voluntary as always

ISO, Developer + time at 20c, So others can gleam from the posts what is working for you.

I have shoot my first roll, and even though I needed to change my PUR water filter, I was still impressed with the sharpness of this film.

No, I had a ton of Mineral hard water deposits caused by a filter that was close to being ready to be changed - around 200 gallons of use.. it was 185 gallons....

I had thouthands of white specks after the scan, like pin dots. So, I used the the Ps "Scratch and Dust" remover to help, but, I lost some detail...
The grain look is from the mineral spots or blotches that could not removed through a noise filter....

The High contrast is my overage... looks good in Ps, but, too much when uploaded.....
I have gone back and re-edited a few.

But, the negatives look good, here is the bridge w/o the contrast added...

I have been using HC110 H right now, I have learned that using less time than the recommended times are too long,
So what works for me is HC110 H for 10.5m @ 20c to give a bit lower contrast with HC110. Because I scan my negatives.
These are shoot at ISO 400, with a flash that has a 35mm coverage, but I used a 28mm lens.
Great contrast, and detail. Since my first roll (post #1) was messed up by a dirty water filter that left tons of minerals on the film, trying to use a noise filter didn't help and made them look too grainy.
And the second post had 100% flash, I still need to just shoot outside without any more screwups 😛

I am shooting a series of pictures with various 35mm lenses with max aperture of f2.5. Four Voigtlander Color Skopars and a Leica Summarit-M 35f2.5. All with Kodak Double X, developed in Pyrocat HD (home made). Film is generally rated at 320 -400 iso and shot as Sunny f16. No meter used as i forgot to replace the Double A battery in my Gossen light meter. This shot is from the first roll, version 1 of the Color Skopar, generally know as the Pancake version.

Thanks for posting. This recipe seems to give the best tones (IMO) of the various images I've seen from XX. Surprising as I've never like D76 on anything.

Recently bought a 400ft. XX roll for all of $75 🙂.

Kodak Double X in Td 201. This is a 2 part developer. home made, that I like for the XX. It has a smooth look to it. The Pteocat HD can look quite aggressive with pronounced grain - but enhance sharp nee. The Td 201 is "softer" working and also quite flexible to exposure mistakes.
Nikon SP, Nikkor 35mm f1.8.
