Photoshop Elements 7 v Elements 8

I'm not using Photoshop at present but feel that I should at least dabble. Elements 7 is 'on offer' at £39 while Elements 8 is £69. What do I gain by going for Elements 8 against 7? My gut feeling is to go for 7 and see how I get on, but will I miss something really significant?
