Photoshop tutorial videos, which one?

I just bought PS CS6 to increase control over post processing; this is after a year of LR4 and NIK plug ins. While waiting for 2 books to come from Amazon, I want to get a head start via video learning if there are any good series out there.

This is not really basic, intro stuff, but I think you'll find it entertaining and maybe it will inspire you to explore the possibilities PS puts at your fingertips: Dr Russell Brown's Photoshop Tips & Techniques
I notice he also links from his homepage to Jeff Tranberry's How to tune Photoshop CS6 for Peak Performance, and at some point you'll need to amke sure you have your computer set up to cope with PS's demands.
Enjoy PS - it's a whole different world from LR, and myself I've moved in the opposite direction to yours (I started out on PS, but in recent years have used it mainly - and ever less and less - as a useful plugin for LR). But I'm sure you'll enjoy learning to harness its extarordinary power

Thanks Jim,

I like the LR interface and will still import all of my photos into LR and use PS as a plug in for additional editing. Is there any disadvantage in this work flow in losing any PS capability?

I don't think you'll lose any PS capability, but you may not feel the need to use its capability as much if you use the LR Develop module for tonal and colour edits, as you would if you were using PS for that stuff (as I had to in the days before LR)

Of course, with PSCS6 you'll get the latest version of Adobe Camera Raw, which is the engine of the LR Develop module and will automatically open up if you try to open a RAW file in PS. Then it's very much a case of personal preference - you can choose to use LR or ACR to process/ develop your RAWs.

Myself, nowadays, I find I'm using PS (I'm still with CS5) for stitching pans, correcting serious perspective distortion and occasional forays into HDR (where the tone-mapping in LR4 isn't enough).

Also, to make prints with captions, or anything else involving text (e.g. cards), where LR has seriously limited capabilities. And I have the PhotoKit Sharpeners plugin from PixelGenius which I still find the most powerful and flexible tools for sharpening or smoothing of (usually non-Leica) files that need serious work.

Otherwise, LR does most of what I need to get from memory card to print or screen. And LR5 beta has a tool called Upright that seems to turbo-charge perspective correction, so that's another PS tool I won't be needing so much...

BTW do you have PS Extended? That has a tool for removing passing strangers from street scenes that I'd quite like, but it's a lot to pay for it!

Thank you for all of your thoughts. I do a lot in LR4 but hopefully with tools such as smart objects, layers and curves, I'll be able to fine tune my creative control over my photos.

I only bought CS6, not the extended as I understand that is more for graphic arts users. Even so, it was not inexpensive.

Since I have a Leica Monochrome, I was thinking of getting Ming Thein's instructional video on processing Monochrome files as his output is something I want to learn.
