My Gmail front page had a link to its free download:

I've tried many photo organizing tools. This one is VERY easy and effective. Not only it organizes images, you can also do basic editing and some cool effects.

You can easily incorporate your images into Blogger! Off to playing with it :D

Yes, it is a very well thought out program - I found it a little over the top however. My photos are very well organized into a directory tree so XnView (www.xnview.com) works very well - plus I have it linked to the GIMP remote utility to edit images with GIMP.

Picasa throws all the images into a big huge über-list which I found a little hard to navigate.

However I suspect if I'd started with it, I'd have liked it better. Coming from ThumbsPlus (who wanted more $$), XnView was the natural upgrade.

One thing I didn't try was; can you use it to build galleries? XnView is a little limited in that regard (very boring).

yep, with a couple of clicks I was able to build a nice little photo gallery...Picasa2 has like 5 web gallery templates....I just found out the prog's algorithm for bringing back highlights and lifting shadows is excellent!

Natalia,

I discovered Picasa2 about two weeks ago and have been using it steadily since. I t has some very nice image editing tools, like color temp for jpegs, which most other programs don't. For a free program it is outstanding. I'd even pay for it, within reason fof course. Using it with jpegs from my Pentax *ist DS is a joy. The Pentax produces some of the cleanest images I have seen and takes very little image processing, which is where Picasa2 comes in. Very simple tweaking is all that is required, and Picasa2 is outstanding for that (it's also excellent for heavier image editing).

Best regards,

Don

so it's free? And I am thinking, I'll have to pay for this when trial expires....I loved it so much! Awesome.

Natalia,

I don't think so. As I understand there is no free trial. It's just free. They may upgrade a version in the future and offer it for sale, but what we have is free. Period.
