I recently purchased a lovely reconditioned Agfa Isolette III with 3.5 Solinar from Jurgen Kreckel (CLA, new bellows, new body covering). I have enjoyed the portability of the folder, compared to by blad equipment, and especially my 4x5. Have been taking it with me daily and shooting with it virtually daily. Here are some snaps from her:

Thd front cell focus 75/3.5 Solinar is a superb lens. I'd say that you have a pretty good handle on the use of that folder.

So can we assume, from the quality of the snaps, and from the absence of any compliant on your part, that Jurgen delivered a properly functioning, satisfactory camera? I hate to bring that up again, but I'm considering buying a folder from him and still trying to get to the bottom of "is he good or is he bad," given the inconclusive overall tone here.

Yes, welcome, I just got my Balda Hapo66e from Jurgens, it is so nice. He still has my Isolette II for a CLA. He must be busy. I hope the Apotar and/or the Balda lens looks as good as yours. If you think Hassy is bad try my Pentax 6x7.

Nice shots! I don't think my Apotar would get that ceiling shot, that Solinar looks good.

Very nice. Now I want one. Isolette I guess is a 'her', Isolot or Isolon would be the 'he'?

i looked into why they were called Isolette once and as near as i could tell it seemed to be linked to a phrase something like 'to stand alone' or 'to set apart from others' ...without looking it up again thats as close as i can remember...from that type of meaning i guess they were trying to relay that an Agfa Isolette was a camera with qualities that made it stand out among other cameras...late 1930's marketing :)

welcome planer98...nice pictures...looks like you still like your blad from your user name tho eh;)

Thanks for the welcome and positive feedback-I feel fortunate to have stumbled across this site (other than it providing solid support for a new addiction). To answer the question about the quality of Jurgen's product-based on my experience, the Isolette delivered was mint in every sense. The new covering and bellows were of high quality and the craftsmanship in installation as well. I was very specific in my communication with him regarding the condition of camera I was looking for, however, and recommend a straightforward discussion about condition prior to any sale agreement. Thank you again for the welcome and I look forward to being a part of this fine group.
