Picture in picture focus would be great!

For all of you Fuji X owners: Would it not be great to have a picture in picture option for accurate focus in addition to the Focus peaking? I like fast legacy glass (I have a Noctilux) and would love the option for a magnified view in the corner of the frame to confirm focus instead of zooming in and out. That would save precious time for capturing the decisive moment. Fuji's focus peaking is ok, but not as good as Sony. Besides, I feel the magnified view is more accurate. So maybe we should all contact Fuji and say we would like this feature in the next firmware update. It would make a huge difference for me and many others.

I have always thought that would be useful. Panasonic does something like this where you can have a little window in the center of the frame pop up that has 100% magnification during focus and goes away right after.

As it is now I find the focus peaking still useful but I still have to zoom in to fine tune the focus so it's not all that much more different than a camera without it.

Speaking of firmware, anyone know when that new delayed FM coming out?

The Panasonic GX7 does have that PIP feature that is useable with focus peaking. It is a great way to focus manually.

I'm not sure what you mean here. Focus peaking is used with magnification on many cameras.

PIP is an obvious feature that should at least be optional on all sensor-view cameras.

The magnification (PIP) and focus peaking can be used separately or together on the GX7 with native u4/3 lenses or adapted lenses.

Agree 100%. PIP is an essential tool for manual focus IMHO.

I never really got used to the pip used in m43. It is just me.

I liked the Ricoh implementation better, but it took me a while to get used to it. Once u set mag mode, it will stay active until u disable it. At first I did not like this. But the key here is that w/ a half press of shutter release u automatically go to non-mag for final composition and exposure values. At u take the shot it goes back to mag mode.. Just a matter of half press when u want non-mag. No need to play w/ a different button (mag on/off one) all the time. The only button is the shutter. It takes a bit to get used to but once u do, it is really much faster then any other implementation except or pip. But for me, I just never got used to pip.

I've got a compact that has PIP as a manual focus aid shown in the center of the image. I find the combination of a highly magnified center that's very sensitive to camera movement/orientation within a frame that is not very inducive to dizzyness.. I much prefer focus peaking on an unmagnified image.

It would be a nice option to have, but I'm much more interested in stronger focus peaking and/or coloured peaking. As it is now it's okay with the screen, but near useless in most situations in the viewfinder.

I'm surprised if any decent digital cameras allowing MF doesn't offer this, so logical it is. And now say again Pany is an office electronics maker...
