Pictures of view through the viewfinder

Hi,

the other day I was trying what my phone-camera can do, and found that it's about perfect for taking pictures through the viewfinder of rangefinder cameras 🙂

So here are the pictures, just for reference, in case someone wants to see what a Leica M6 or Voigtlander Bessa R2 or Canonet viewfinder looks like.


This is Leica M6:

Well, that's kinda cute. And thanks.

But wouldn't be more informative if a) each camera were mounted on a tripod at a fixed position, and b) pointed at the exact same target, one with a bunch of detail in it. That way, we'd get a better sense of how closely the Bessa's 35mm lines match those of the Leica, and so on.
The hardwood flooring is hard to use for that purpose.

Wow, my Konica Hexar RF has cleaer lines and a larger patch than the M6 or Bessa.

Yeah, and couldn't you modify the cell phone sensor to capture at say 10 mp, so we could blow them up larger than life size? :bang:

Much better than I could get out of a Nikon Coolpix with a tiny lens.

Good idea. Might give it a try someday...

The purpose of the posted images was rather to compare frameline combinations, overall crispness/brightness and how much area is around the framelines. But I could do as you are saying...

Again, thanks for your posts --- I think this is an interesting idea. I wasn't complaining; merely wondering if a different target in front of the camera might improve the project.

VERY cool idea! I could have used something like this when I was searching so long for 'comfortable' framelines. Hopefully your thread will attract others to contribute frameline pictures from other brands and models. I'm going to try getting images of my new ZM framelines and add them to the post. I only have a little P&S Canon camera.... I'll try it tonight to see if I can get something to add here. Thanks again.
