Pictures taken with the new Summarit

Very informative! (However, I wonder about the comment that the lenses are labeled f2.5 rather than their true aperture, f2.4, solely because Steven Lee, the head of Leica and of Asian background, believes 2 and 5 are more auspicious than 2 and 4!)

I 'm doubtful too ... but who knows.

Nice images indeed. But like Nero (ok, Caesar, but looked more like the Middle Ages Propaganda-rendered Nero) said in "History of the World Part I": Nice. Not thrilling...but nice.

To my eye, it's more reminiscent of the pre-asph Summilux stopped at about f/2.8 than the current Summicron at f/2.8

I wonder if this "look"/"feel" would be a characteristic of the whole "Summarit-M" line; that would look nice with the 90mm focal length, perhaps a la 90mm Elmarit?

They seem to perform well... just like any modern manufactured series of premium lenses.

I don't think I understand the hype though. Paying extra for super high performance exotic lenses makes some sense to me. But normal, mid-aperture lenses? not so much.

Not sure what could possibly be improved with the 75 Heliar (other
than handling) - I have yet to see a negative comment.

The 75 seems to be the winner of the lot. I just read a review in LFI, test shots looked crisper than the 75 Summilux.

Same observation Now, the 35/50 lenses costs more than the equivalent Zeiss with the same pricing model of excluding the hoods.

How about now ? 🙂

A lot depends on the person making the photos and not the lenses. With first class lenses, such as the modern lenses people are talking about above, I doubt it whether a large proportion of people will actually see a difference.
