I apologize to those who've already seen this on another thread, but I figured I should post it here, too.

I "pimped" my new NEX-5N EVF with some Hassie camera leather, which I bought at www. cameraleather.com (no affiliation.) In person, it really plays down the plastic-y-ness of the EVF, and I think it goes well with the black camera. What do you think?

p.s. these crappy pics are using the iPhone up close, so they really make the EVF appear larger than it really is. I was surprised how relatively small it is.

This does look awesome. I really want to say something about it being overkill, but it looks too cool. Well done.

Oh and you need a better case now. Camera leather something up and chrome accents.

Wow really nice.

My one gripe with this EVF was that it stuck out on the black camera because of the silver colour.

But with the balck inserts the silver actually complements and visually ties the silver parts on the camera together.

Well done indeed.

Btw, how does the EVF feel quality wise.

Do you think it could take some knocks fixed to the camera if put in a coat pocket?

Or is it more prudent to keep them separate and screw it on if you want to take a shot?

Thanks. It's tough to predict the build quality of the EVF. It feels relatively solid, but I guess I could see it breaking off if the force was great enough. I'm primarily going to just leave it attached most of the time and risk it, so I'll let you know if anything happens.

Same here in in The Netherlands as well.

The shop were I could try out the NEX 7 last week had one in stock thursday and it was gone by friday.
Otherwise I might have bought the 5N instead of waiting for the 7.
Being a left eye shooter I had some trouble looking through the viewfinder.

Perhaps It's just an initial impression because the NEX 7 is so small.
With my M2 i have no problems whatsoever.🙂

@douglasf13: How are the ergonomics with the 5N and viewfinder?
Do you find the camera steadier whe using the EVF or is the camera too far away from your face to have it serve as an anchor point?

Having not shot the NEX-7, I would guess that the 5N EVF ergonomics are better for me, since I'm also a left eye'd shooter. I actually like tilting the EVF up a bit sometimes, too. As far as being an anchor point, it does function that way, although I'd imagine the NEX-7 would be a little more solid in this regard. Even when the 5N EVF is tilted up, I can put some pressure there with my brow ridge. I have a good sized brow ridge, so I don't shoot with the eyecup attached, FWIW.
