hey all....i posted a while ago that i was going on my own as a photog....things have been going well...starting to drum up some good business...i also mentioned i'm car free in los angeles, which is a bit nutty, as i have to lug my gear via bike....

i decided to try out a new marketing ploy...i go on 30 mile morning rides and decided to do some advertising while i'm at it 🙂

That's wonderful. Now, those are some pantalones, to go about this on your own, and not have a car in Southern California, the one place where indeed if you don't own a car, you're pretty much paralyzed.

Good for you!

xcapekey,

Noticed your location. Lived in Long Beach thru most of the 70's, with
fond memories. I hope it is good for you there now.

Love your bike & I hope it helps. If it doesn't help much don't be
deterred, try another idea. This kind of initiative is what sales managers
everywhere are dying to find! Best of luck to you.

the bike itself is a trek 520...their touring model....i added the xtracycle rack to it....let's me carry about 200lbs of gear...it rides great loaded..super stable....

my usual on location set up is a pelican with camera, 3 strobes, 4 lenses on one side....and 3 bogen lightstands, softbox, 2 umbrellas, and a tripod on the other....

let's me shoot about 99% of all the jobs i run across...sometimes i strap a seamless across the top of the wooden board...

yeah...the brooks rocks! people always look at it and think i'm crazy for riding it because it's not soft and squishy like most commuter/hybrid bikes today....but over long rides it's the best....

i've put about 2000 miles on this combo in less than a year and it has worked out great....the brooks is just starting to look broken in...sorta the leica of saddles i suppose 🙂

I did the crits over there at Long Beach at that park. This summer, way too busy with extra jobs. Next year, I'll do the Mulhulland Challenge. Do you shoot the cycling events? I usually use my Oly Stylus on the bike but next year, I think I'll get a cheap digi from Walmart.

i don't usually shoot cycling events but i'd like to....i didn't even know they had races in LB 🙂 i'm a bike commuter, so i'm not too intuned with the race scene, but would love to know about the races in the city....

i've had to send a few leica's to the shop because they bounced in my panniers too much...now, i don't carry them with me unless they're in a backpack or mess bag on my back...

El Dorado Park Criteriums. Or sometimes called Tuesday Night crits in the summer

Pelican cases
I use a 1050 with foam for my digi point and shoot. A 1050 may fit a Leica with 1 lens (with foam). I go to the beach a lot and my digi p&s is always in my messenger bag with a bunch of other junk.
