pin-head scratch on lens

how do you treat a pin-head dent on the front element of a lens? Do you leave it or fill it with black ink?:bang:

Well, it might cause problems shooting into/toward the sun or other light source. A bit of black ink would stop that from happening.

I think the best test will be a roll of film shot in different situations with the light source at different locations in the photo.

I wouldn't bother to test it: just paint it. A tiny dot of camera matte black paint may or may not improve things, i.e. the scratch/nick may have no effect anyway. But equally the paint will do no harm.
