Ash - One little note on feedback. Depending on how much work you're willing to do, there is a fairly foolproof way to leave negative feedback and not receive negative feedback in revenge.

Each buyer/seller can leave feedback for 90 days after a transaction ends. If it goes poorly, and you're afraid of negative feedback if you're honest about the seller, count 90 days from the day the auction ended. On the 89 or 90th day leave the necessary feedback. (Keep in mind that if the auction ends at 9:00AM on the 90th day, you won't be able to leave feedback at 10:00AM as the 90 day cycle will have ended.) Most likely, the seller won't realize the negative feedback is there until it is too late and they can't ding you.

This may seem sort of petty, but in some cases might be warranted. Also, in some rare cases eBay will allow feedback to be left beyond 90 days, but a special form has to be filled out, so there are no guarantees. Just a way to see a little justice done when necessary! 🙂

i have had some pretty frustrating experiences with people shipping up to 14 days after i had paid through paypal. however as someone pointed out earlier sometimes the tracking numbers don't show up until the package is almost there. i personally have had the tracking number show up AFTER the package arrived... so they probably did NOT fast track it.
frustrating though when it ships 2 weeks after you have paid. i have purchased twice off a "shop" out of toronto that sells on ebay... safe for sure but man... shipping 7-10 days after i have paid?!?!? bit of a bugger...

This is a total urban legend. MANY MANY items stay in the eBay sales database for up to six months or even more.

You can retrieve an item that is no longer shown in "feedback forum" by entering the item number, and easily leave feedback.

If you think you're outsmarting the system by waiting 90 days and "sniping" the feedback, you are sadly mistaken.

You will rue the day these antics will come back to bite you.

By the way, I am 100% correct. No need for ill-informed rebuttals, this has been discussed to death and proven countless times over in the eBay Powerseller forums, to which I belong. (The "special form" remark is total fantasy, there is no special form for leaving feedback after an extended period)

i'm not all that interested in the feedback, truth be told.

these guys have over 22,000 feedback comments at a 99.8 positive rating.
they usually do fine but this time they screwed up.

i'd like some satisfaction and an honest statement from the seller.
and if they had any class whatsoever, perhaps a trinket to fully express their regret...🙂

Who was the seller? I just bought a M5 from a Canadian seller 10 days ago. It hasn't shown up yet, and a leica CL of his I was bidding on was just delisted by eBay for unknown reasons. 😱

Well, thank God you were here to straighten me out! 😛 I don't know how I would've gone on with my misguided thinking. Funny how eBay has this link on their feedback forum page: feedback stating that the 'single transaction form' has to be filled out for items older than 90 days. I suppose that wouldn't be a special form, would it? And yes, they do say items might be around longer, but not always!

I'm sure I will. Oh, by the way, if you use 'plasmat' on eBay, there's no way you're a PowerSeller. That ID has been a member for 8 years, and one month with a feedback rating of 68. I've been an eBay member longer and have several times that amount of feedback, most as a seller.

If you're not eBay's Plasmat, fine. Not trying to get into a pissing contest, but I just might know what I'm talking about. Of course, then again I might not. 🙂
 
Now would anyone be so silly so as to use the same handle wherever one posts and also use it on eBay?

Don't harass poor old 68 feedback Plasmat, whoever he is on eBay.
 
You always take a chance buying online weither its ebay or someone else. I have bought 50 or so cameras on ebay and lenses and have only been screwed with broke cameras twice one just the other day so like the old saying if you play with fire.
