I own both Canon L lenses and a Leica M8 (50 and 90mm summicrons). Can't help myself but I do view images at full size to se if I nailed the focus. More times than not canon's AF system (currently classic 1D - L glass) nails it - less so on the Leica system. Prints and slideshow on a 15 inch mac look great. Curious about others' thoughts on pixel peeping.

thnx

...don't care much about it personally just as long as the final product (print) looks fine to my eyes...
Now if a print looks awful such as an unsharp/misfocused image, then I'll peep to see which is the culprit - the body/lens/or the photographer ;)
Otherwise, I don't bother.

Hear ya. I should have added that the reason for the difference is not the M8 but the fact that the AF is just more precise than I am.

My only digital is SLR, but yes, I do this with manual-focus lenses. The auto-focus system is pretty reliable, now that I have it adjusted for each lens I use.

"Grain sniifers" - aahhh, I love the smell of HP5 grain in the morning!
