The Rayko Photography Center's annual Juried Plastic Camera show opens this Friday. The gallery is at 3rd and Harrison.

The work in this show is always exciting, creative and beautiful, and opening night is always a big party. Please some if you can.

(full disclosure: I've got a picture in this year's show)

Thanks for the tip. I'm going to be in San Francisco this Friday.

Edit: Vince I just went on the two sites you included above. This is right down my alley. You say 'night' is the gallery going to be open during the day?

Yes, the gallery is open 10am to 10pm Tuesday through Friday, 10am to 8pm Sat and Sun. Closed Mondays.

Let me know when you plan to be in town. i enjoy your work and it would be a pleasure to meet you in person.

Did anyone have a chance to go? Enjoy it?

I am going to pop up to see the show this coming week.

Got a Diana Mini 35mm Plastic Camera

Got a Diana Mini 35mm Plastic Camera

After enjoying the show I just had to pick up a plastic camera to tinker around a bit. While in LA last week I did just that, getting a Diana Mini.

Last Friday I loaded up a roll of Ektar 100 and headed up to the city (San Francisco) to have lunch and have some plastic photo fun. Below are a couple of shots from that day (drug store scan) and there is a link to the full set on Flickr as well.

Opinion... No decision yet. Had a lot of fun but not sure it's my "thing". I did get better with it as the day went on, learning that you need a FIRM grip on that thing to compensate for camera shake (heavy shutter release and slow shutter speed).

Anyway, lots of fun! Try it if you have time :)

Plastic cameras are huge fun! I was lucky enough to have one of my Holga shots in the Rayko show, and also in the Krappy Kamera Exhibition at Soho Gallery in NY at the same time! My only time with "coast-to-coast" exposure, and it's all because of a $30 Holga!
