Hi -

I recently got a plaubel Makina 67. Beautiful camera and I'm looking forward to getting it up and running. I've got a small problem with the wind lever skipping or not catching every time. Hopefully this won't be a big issue. Also, I am missing a users maunual and I am wondering if any one out there who might be a plaubel owner, has a copy of the manual in PDF format, or any format really that they would be willing to share with me? Thanks for any help in this endevour... Jim;)
 
You might try a search of the forums if you haven't already. I seem to recall this came up and was answered a while back. Within the last couple of months. And you can always try the Butkus site.

Good luck on the wind. I seem to recall hearing that was always a weak point of the camera. Hopefully not so with yours.
 
Yes, it is/was a weak point for the 67. The 670 was much hardier and rarely suffered from that problem. If you wind the film gingerly and take care to not strip the gears, you can use it that way for many years. If you can find a repair, though, I would recommend a fix.

If you research you will find they come highly recommended and specialize in the repair of these cameras.

That is the thing with these cameras ..... The Cla is very expensive and should be considered into the price of the camera .....

I have the 670 and sent it off to NPC For a CLA and repair of the same problem you mentioned in regards to the film advance and a few other issues
it was not cheap ...... Beautiful camera ...I have no regrets ; ) except maybe getting the 67W lol

Thanks for all your comments. I have taken it up to Berry Pro Camera in NYC for a once over. They worked on my Mamiya Super 23 and did a great job. they are also quite reasonable when it comes to the price for repairs. we'll see what happens with this one.
Does anyone know if the users manuals for the 670 and 67 are similar, or basically the same? The one difference I know is that the 670 can handle 220 as opposed to the 67 only taking 120?...

There does not seem to be many differences in the way these two cameras operate ....I cannot imagine the 67 manual being much different .........

-the ability to load 120 and 220 films
-an accurate two stroke film transport
-a new hot shoe, and
a shutter lock.....

looks like Berry Pro Camera may be able to do something with the transport mechanism, possibly refashioning a gear that is unobtainable. Thanks to all who responded with suggestions.

Looks like Berry Pro camera couldn't fix it - they tried to make a new gear, but were unsuccessful. Unfortunately, they can't simply get the part to replace it. I would really like to try NOT to send it to Germany for a repair, especially since it will cost a bundle to do this. So, I'm going to try one last place - Nippon Camera repair which was mentioned here earlier. Thanks for all the input on this... F.

So, after a few attempts at getting repairs I finally found a great place in NJ (Essex Camera Service in Carlstadt) that got the job done rather quickly and expertly... I had a transport problem - common with this model and it needed to be replaced. Unfortunately, the part is no longer being produced and is difficult to repair. These guys not only had (or found) the part and replaced it, they also did it at a reasonable price (not that it was cheap, but cheaper than a few other options I was looking at). plus they also cleaned, lubbed and calibrated all the other functioning parts of the camera including the meter and shutter... Excellent work. and the camera is taking excellent photos...

Ive got a pdf manual. will send via pm.

I have a 67 and use care when winding. I got lucky with mine; only had to change out the light baffle. great camera.
