quick shots, hand held in-store…at 1.2 or 2.8
very sharp, thin dof…nice feel to the lens, similar to the 23/1.4 but heavier and bigger window pane up front.

Hi Joe
Thanks for the report. This lens is smack in the middle of many our radars!
Curious about the capture setting or post. Was this in camera Jpeg or did you convert from RAW.
The red/orange/skin tone looks really noisy and blown out.
if ooc jpeg what setting?

Looks really good, and not surprised about the faster focus.

Thanks
I just started experimenting with OOC jpegs.
The effect in the orange hat and backpack... sort of posterizing is something I was getting in Red Flowers too. "Provia" setting.... which surprised me.
I want this lens for a week trial. Looking at these samples and others plus reports of good AF speed make it a very desirable piece.
Cheers!

yummy good that first and last shot Joe
i would think the 27 pancake (or the 18 f2)
and this 56 is ALL one would need

the 27 is the pancake helen…the 23 is the bigger faster 1.4 lens.
i'm sticking with the 60 for now as i'm still looking for work and a $1K lens is not feasable atm.
but the 60 is a fine lens, every bit as sharp as the 56 i think…just can't get the 1.2 pop!
the 23/60 is a good kit...

Looks nice.
I would imagine I'll have to replace my 60 with one of these at some point.
But I don't think I'd want to give up my 23 to do it.

I was a bit surprised the AF was speedy... even on the X-Pro 1. It's a bit quicker on the XT-1.
