Please 645 GS or 645 GA -W

Hello. I have to choose between GS 60mm or GA 40mm . Both good price,370 eur and 470 eur.
I like the mechanic sistem more than automatic, but 40mm is better to landscapes photographs.
I would like a opinion. I don,t know this camera 645 GA-W

If you are planning to go digital from the negs or transparencies, the Wide angle is not really an issue. Both Photoshop CS3 and Photoshop Elements have excellent panoramic stitching capabilities.

I am inclined toward the manual (rangefinder) focus of the GS645S over the single focal length GA645W. I use autofocus, but have always bypassed the single focal length GA series in favor of the GA645Zi which has an excellent reliability record and a zoom from 55mm to 90mm (admittedly a fairly short range, but zoom nonetheless)

I also personally tend to think of wide angle more in the framework of close but wide subject matter rather than wide angle for landscape. Perhaps that's because I am using normal focal length (scanned to digital) and putting two images together in post processing.

In any event, the Fuji G series camera's are notoriously sharp and reliable after the first folding model caused Fuji to tighten up on their quality. I've had a number of the GS645S and very good performance from all of them. I have never had the GA645, because of my preference for the Zi, but heard fairly good reports on the GA640W.

The lens on the GS645S is amazing. I don't think I've ever used a camera that takes better pictures. Consistently brilliant tonality and sharpness.

Mine has a pretty dull rangefinder spot which doesn't prevent focusing but makes it a bit hard in low light. The viewfinder is bright, though, and has moving frame lines that compensate for parallax. The 'bumper' around the lens is an accident waiting to happen. I've caught mine taking it out of a camera bag; no damage to the lens itself, luckily, but a little minor damage to the plastic surround. Also, the range of film speeds available for metering isn't great. If you're shooting 1600 or 3200 film, you'll need to mentally adjust exposure.

I would never part with mine [a very kind gift from a friend]. It's a brilliant camera.

Thanks you. It is what I wish to read. I prefer manual focus. I always use the manua focus even with my AF camera.
I prefer to "work" something with my camera, instead of she works for me.
At last I will try to buy a 645GS, 60 mm.
