Please help identify this camera

I came across this posting on craigslist, but the picture is so poor that I can't read the writing on the camera to determine its manufacturer. I don't want to contact the seller since I don't have a great interest in buying the camera at the price they are asking, but I am curious about what it is. Since it appears to be some sort of rangefinder, I figured someone on here may be able to identify it.
 
It looks like one of the Petri 35 models , I am unsure which . I have the Color Corrected Super 28 , which looks a little different .
It's fixed lens , leaf shutter . Mine has 45mm f 2.8 lens , speeds 1 to 1/300 .
I have no idea what it is worth - mine was a Charity shop find , but they are not expensive cameras .
 
Might be an Aires "V"...$150.00 if it's in great shape (everything works) it's priced about right...

Not too sure now...I thought it was the "V" or maybe the Viscount but now I'm not too sure...

It's a Petri 2.8..

I have one just like it.

It's worth maybe $20 in good working order..

The rewind knob is a pain to use....
 
I'd say Petri also, going by the red logo.
I don't know why, but I rarely ever see a good bargain on Craigslist.

You know, Uncle Joe gives them a camera they really don't want because it's a stupid film camera, so they go to ebay and look at the highest buy it now price on something similar and put it on Craigslist for that price, wherein it sits and molds from lack of interest until the seller gets so frustrated they say, "fug it" and give it to Goodwill who turns around and auctions it off for $150.00 to some idiot with too much money and a guilty conscience.
 
Call Igor in Solon or hit one of the Cleveland Camera shows, I am pretty sure I have this one, sitting over my desktop, which is back in the frozen north, so cannot give you a positive answer, I know one of the cameras decorating my office is a Petri, so I would not be surprised if the above comments are correct.

Igor commented once that he might have about a hundred semi working similar models looking for a good home. ;-)

That said, a lot of cameras from that era and design are excellent shooters, if they are in good shape with a cla. Problem usually lies in the cost of the cla. I think I have a Ricoh, Beauty, Petri, some Feds, and a couple of Retinas on those shelves. One has a red spot like this one.

Do you get down to the Photorama and Cleveland Photo Club shows in Richfield? The Cleveland show is once a year, in the fall, with lots of hobbyists selling their older cameras, generally quite reasonably, so you have a good chance of picking up something like this in a hands on situation.

Campus Camera in Kent, may have a few lying about as well, that is where Demshar's landed years ago.

At the Cleveland Collector's show they have also had a guy giving free shutter checks, so you can find out how "good" something is. Assuming you are looking for a nice shooter?

definitely not an AIRES. i have all AIRES models including the TLR. The 35v is one of the most solid rangefinders one could ever experience with a viewfinder that rivals any leica m - and with interchangeable lens and unique leaf shutter.

I've been to a Photorama show once--there was certainly a lot of interesting stuff there. I sold a lens to Igor while I was there--nice guy, very reasonable. I also picked up a nice Nikon 24 2.8 AIS from one of the sellers for a good price after a bit of haggling.

I'm not necessarily looking for anything in particular, but I always have my eyes open for something fun to shoot with. This camera piqued my interest only because I couldn't readily identify it. I'm always curious about something with a bit of mystery about it.

Give him a call, he is in Florida for some shows now, but he has a number of these, quite possibly for parts?

Bought one of those Petris a couple of weeks ago for 25£ - just a bit overpriced, but in mint condition, so... Unlike some of the other Petris it seems very well build and has nice ergonomics.

I've seen a camera called Rippa. It looked very similar and I'm quite it is one.
