I just bought a Zorki 4 but cannot figure out the purpose of the outer ring under the shutter speed dial. Please see my attached photo and give me some hints.

It's the delay for sync. contact (flash). Just set it to 0 (zero), for zero delay, if you're ever going to use electronic flash with the camera. Other numbers are for various delays when used with flashbulbs...

BTW, the camera is going to function just fine whatever you set on the outer ring - it affects only flash contacts...

Jochan - My Z4 has no numbers but an "X" and "M" for electronic or bulb respectively (I assume). What year is your Zorki?
