Please Help!! Question on Summaron and Elmar

I have seen a 35mm Summaron and a collapsible 90mm Elmar in a shop at a very decent price today. I'm seriously tempted to get them for my Bessa R2A. What's stopping me is the 35mm Summaron I saw in the shop is the version attached with a 'spectacles' that I believe it is orginially decided for the Leica M3. Does anyway know if the spectacles can be removed? If yes, can I use that on the R2A?? Also, I just wondering if the collapsible 90mm Elmar can be 'fully collapsed' in the R2A? Your help/advice will be apperciated!!

I'd answer no to both of your questions. The googles canot be removed and still focus the 35mm lens with the camera's rangefinder. You could scale-focus the lens though. The 90mm lens will probably hit the Bessa's light baffles. However, no one says that you have to collapse the 90, just keep it extended.

Yes- you can remove the goggles. Two small screws will do the trick. Or if it is an early version it will have a knob on top which will loosen the goggles. No-it won't focus correctly without. I have still not found out why Leica offered this option in the first place. Does anybody know? The focussing curve is corrected for the optical change in measuring base by the goggles. Leica recommends taping Dymo tape around the collapsible lenses for camera's that don't clear the barrel ( for instance the CL)

Maybe the removable goggles were just a convenience in case just the goggles or lens, but not both, needed to be sent off servicing.

Thanks for all the input. Perhaps I would just search for another 35mm lens for my R2A and just leave the 90mm at the moment as I don't use tele lens much anyway. Be honest, I was tempted by it cos the realatively low price only!!
