I notice there's a reasonable-looking 820 on e-bay UK now, selling in a few hours:

Sure Adrian, i dont think i have seen one for maybe 10 or so months, it only takes two or three people bidding that want it at almost any cost for the bidding to get out of control. i wouldnt mind having a nice english made folding camera such as that autorange either. that in its self is a good reason to want one, but i'd prefer it for a $1000 if i did have a case of GAS tho LOL
Since 1978, the only times I have ever spent more than $40 on a camera were when I was buying either large format cameras or brand new digital cameras. If you are just patient enough, and are willing and able to do some work on it, you can eventually buy pretty much anything short of a Leica or a Hasselblad for next to nothing -- and I have twice seen Hasselblads go for under $40.

And didn't go for that much either. The earlier one must have leve everyone emotionally drained.

Now there's sound logic.
Why didn't you go for the Weltini that just went for about $20.00 US? I don't know why I let that one go myself. But how many can one use. I already have three working ones.

G'day mate.
I have had several Agfa Records in the past and they are excellent 6x9 folding cameras.
Various shutter types are available but the lenses to look for are the Apotar and Solinar.
The Agnar lens is just average, if that.
They can be found with or without a RF.
Pricing varies but they will not break the bank. An Apotar without RF in good working condition may be found on Ebay Australia around the $75 price point.
If you want one that is fully CLA'd then vist certo6. His name is Jurgen from memory and he sells these, and other folders, fully done-up including new bellows - a bit pricey but you are getting a folder in top notch condition that will last for yonks.

Peter

Because by the time I found it, it was two minutes to the end of the auction, some of which had elapsed, and I had a 14.4K modem. I was sitting in front of the computer, bouncing up and down, yelling "LOAD, DAMNIT! LOAD!" It did -- about 1 second too late.

I remember at a Commodore computer club meeting in Korea, a member reporting on his new 28K moden. "... it scrolled down the page so fast I couldn't read it." We've come a long way.

hehe yeah, i acually considered going for that too, it looked very nice and i would have liked to try the lens..so that counts as one of my restraint cameras and saved money haha

it kinda works too, at the moment i have my eye on a particular camera that i would really like (not a Welta- i'm not telling what it is LOL), that i will be very lucky if i can afford if it reaches what it should- i think i should have showed more restraint with a few previous purchases and have been passing on some that i might i have otherwise gotten!
$20 is an absolute bargin, i didnt notice what it ended up at--but like you say how many can one use. i have a set of good Weltini's each with a different lens xenar, tessar, Elmar and xenon, so i havn't been after one--maybe thats why the prices have dropped lol
edit; for some reason i had in my mind Weltini II but that one sold was the weltini of course, still a bargin and nice camera needing a bit of a clean up. linkages looked ok too which is a thing that often is at fault with them, lens was cloudy tho it would poss clean up ok--$20 ,shoulda bought it....in comparison a nice weltini II w/tessar sold for 150GBP

yeah i know the feeling--i've missed out on some that through some computer or net promblem that leave me disapointed to say the least. the worst for me and it still has me in knots maybe near two years later, is a Superfekta that a lady in some Euro country didnt list correctly..she had split the kit up into three different auctions-case with extra bits-tripod and the camera by itself.
all were ending within very close time of each other. i made sure i stayed up all night to the wee hours of the morning for end time of the auction (dam inconveinent of you northern hemisphere people to end auctions then). the kit was like new-absolutly outstanding never seen better or ever likely too again. i was prepared to pay full price. the time came and in the last seconds i bid on each auction, first the case and bits which i won (new-mint) for next to nothing, then the tripod (i was the only bidder and got that for a bargin) then the camera end time came, which was still an incredibly low price so far (only one other person had placed a bid). i entered my bid pressed the button and at that exact time the connection to the net went down,,-10-15 seconds later it was back up--tooooo late! it went for next to nothing---i cursed for a month!!! still am!!!!! i so wanted that camera
btw i am making progress with my superfekta--i have worked out how to replace the mirror and have taken it down to its bare bones for a complete service, lube ect

I just got a nice Peerflekta II last month. Nice little TLR. I tried to clean the mirror, and the entire coating came off. I'm working on replacing it.
From what I've read, the Peerflekta's are lower-priced TLRs made by Welta for the Peerless.

yeah ZF they are the same as the Welta Reflekta II TLR (rebadged for peerless) except they usually are only available with ROW lens where the Reflekta II had a few different ones available, and the shutters for the Welta Peerflekta were ordered with the prontor SV, as a result they dont have the 'micky mouse' ears shape each side of the (above) shutter. just the one on the left-(facing the camera) with the flash sync in it. Also it would normaly have on or near where it is embossed 'made in germany' a stamp saying 'Germany USSR Occcupied' mine has anyway. there no rolliflex but not bad entry/user level TLR for someone thats want to use a TLR nowadays

When you figure out how to replace it let us know. That is a fairly common problem. My Reflekta has a weak though usable mirror.

they aren't too difficult oftheherd you should have no trouble.
remove the name plate (2 screws) then remove the 8 screws around the top, being sure to keep the two front ones seperate as they are longer (you will see) . then with a little bit of a fiddle (you can gently pry under with small sccrewdriver if need be) lift of the top (in a motion headed toward the back of the camera) which has a little resistance because of the two spring form sides but you wont do any damage- just dont be too aggressive. then you can see the mirror. it is held in by two spring pieces on each side. the mirror should slide up and out but if you can put a screwdriver under each spring clip and lever up a little while a second pair of hands (using just one finger is all thats needed) pushes the mirror out its a little easier.
hope that made sence, but its very easy. the mirror is usually about 2mm thick on these so if you get the same thickness you wont need to readjust the focus

The Peerflekta mirror is a bit different from other TLRs in that the mirror is rectangular rather than a trapezoid.
No matter, I'm going to pick up a cheapie Polaroid One-Step or similar camera from a thrift shop and trim the mirror.
Alternatively, I'm experimenting with a craft-shop material that is a front-surface mirror on a plastic base. It's very nice, but flexes a bit more than I would like.

Some places that sell camping supplies have stainless steel mirrors that are about 2mm thick. They have the advantages of not being breakable, being much easier to cut, and you can handle them and clean them without damaging the silvering (because there isn't any). It is undoubtedly more flexible than glass, but (unlike the plastic) you'd have to put some force into it to bend it. Steel mirrors, of course, reflect from the front, although I would hesitate to call something that has no silvering "front silvered." If you are experimenting with alternative materials, you might want to give this one a try.

Uh,... Andy, time zones are divided by longitude, not latitude. Regardless of that, it wasn't the first time that sort of thing has happened to me and no doubt it will not be the last. It WAS one of the most disappointing instances though.

Yeah, my first computer had a 1,200 bit modem. I was THRILLED with the 14.4K modem. I'd have been thrilled with anything that took less than 20 minutes to load a picture.
