....i think it would work out close enough to our time if i shopped on Ebay Jakarta or Ebay Vladivostok :) . i wonder what cameras they have :D

Some nice Moskvas and some expired rollfilm (but always kept cool, so no worries) - on ebay Vladivostok, at least?

Best regards,
Uwe

oh yeah i forgot to think about that..still you guys in the UK, Europe and the US all seem to finish auctions when we're trying to get some sleep. i'm 9.30+ GMT -not sure what you are but i know we are a day ahead of most, (if you nice i'll tell you what tomorrows Lotto number are lol)....i think it would work out close enough to our time if i shopped on Ebay Jakarta or Ebay Vladivostok :) . i wonder what cameras they have :D

Well, I guess we're on the other side of the world, here in the US, no matter how you slice it.

The odds of winning the lottery, picking the correct six two-digit numbers, are just short of a trillion to one, so I never play it. Even Los Vegas gives better odds than that. I think anyone who does play it either is an idiot or hasn't thought about how many combinations of six 2-digit numbers exist.

Vladivostok undoubtedly has Moskvas, Iskras, Kievs, FEDs, Zorkis, Zenits and so on.

one of these days your gonna laugh at one of my jokes...i dunno when tho ;)

... I would hesitate to call something that has no silvering "front silvered." If you are experimenting with alternative materials, you might want to give this one a try.

I'll take a look at that.

You're right. I should have said that it's a front-surface mirror. Or more accurately, a mirror with a metallic, reflective material on the front surface. It was cheap -- about $3 for a 5x8 sheet.

I think it's 1mm thick, and I think that if I double up on it, it should work out very nicely.

The Peerflekta II cost me only $15, so it's worth giving it a shot.

Yeah, my first computer had a 1,200 bit modem.

Yeah, I had one of those as well. It had an acoustic coupler designed to accept the standard phone handset (even the black bakelite one). I could actually hear each bit getting transmitted :D

Cheers!

Do you remember when they came out with the 14.4K modems? I was SO happy to get one.

some 6x9 cameras to use for specific purposes;

the green one was first designed for army use but has become popular with nature photographers. this young photographer would never of been able to get so close to this native australian budgie (Melopsittacus undulatus) with any other camera!

this red model was sold to married adults only (unless you got one under the counter), as it evoked signifcant passion in the women being photographed and their clothes quickly removed. if you saw a young man with this camera you kept your daughters well away! they still produce excellent results today.

the black 6x9 was the prefered camera by the professional wedding photographer.

this blue model 6x9 was, and still is favoured by fashion and swimsuit photographers. its particulary suited for the beach enviroment and some models even work under water! the camera not so well!

Thanks for the information there Chippy. I had seen different colored cameras on ebay from time to time and often wondered what some highly colored cameras would be used for. Now I understand. I may need to head back to ebay today. After all, I'm not that old. What other colors are you familiar with?

I sure do love RFF. Where else can one find such depth of information so willingly and unabashedly shared.

:D :D :D

Now's the time! There's another one you can check off of your life goals list. :D:D:D

BTW, which of the "excellent results" did you mean?

there is this brown model as well. it was specificaly used for street photography. it didnt draw much attention- a good thing in a less than civilised towns main street. it blended in very well with the dusty streets and clothing after being on the trail, also inconspicuous in the local pub with all the woodwork. it easily fits in your pocket but in the old days you could just wear it holstered to your belt to get a quick shot off. it was very competive in the old days to be able to get a shot off quicker than the next bloke. must have been good money in candid shots for the newspaper back then eh

Well, I figured you could take cover, hold up the box rainbow for a few seconds, and then come out with the vest pocket rainbow and start shooting.

Kind of like waving a red flag in front of a bull, huh? Well, maybe not. Here's one that's even redder. Andrew, if you get this one, be careful. The mere sight of this extremely red camera may cause any nearby ladies to shed their garments so quickly that schrapnel wounds are a distinct possibility. http://cgi.ebay.com/Kodak-Rainbow-H...ryZ67375QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Whoa!!! Such naughtyness! Dear, dear, dear!

Just as an aside; D'ya think if I painted my F2 like that it'd help?

its a little known fact that is excatly why the later nikon DSLR's D70 ect ect have that small red part on the front....new govenment regulations wont allow more red than that to be placed on cameras! ...

And, undoubtedly, that is why Leica and Petri chose red for their logos. Hmmm... I wonder if that's the real reason why the Kodak Signet 35 is better than the Kodak 35 "tank" rangefinder.
