Randy, Nice additions, the thumb-grip is especially a nice one.
Did you get a sapphire glass replacement?
Or the full replacement package?

So the chrome will eventually wear off and the brass will show through?
In that case I will stop being so protective.
More samples would be nice to see.

My M8 is fine but I did have an M6ttl in black chrome that showed heavy signs of wear - I don't know if the M8 would wear the same.
There's one photo of it in this post: http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38327
Another here.

Probably differently unless you have one of 400sets that was manufactured with a Brass top plate instead of the zinc alloy.
I do rather like the silvered grey emerging.

Is that reflecting on the top edge, or is that brassing? If the latter then awesome. I think this puts a patina on the camera that is beautiful to the eye. IMHO.
Just over 20K clicks, so not to shabby

It's a little of both. Its silver, where the black chrome has worn off.
My understanding it that there is a plating of Nickel between the black chrome and brass. That is what you see.
So yes, it's a reflection from the nickel plating. If you look on the edges by the strap lugs and on the vertical edge of the frame around the viewfinder glass, thats a more accurate color.
Here is a desaturated look that is closer to it.

It's the same as on older cameras.
If it continues to wear, brass should show.
