Neopan 400 was a nice compromise between result and cost...gone.

I've used the Ultra 100 in 120 with mixed results. The price was right for the 120 EDU Ultra 400. I paged through Flikr and wasn't terribly taken by what I saw, so I'm asking those of you with some experience with this film, is there a magical combination of EI, developer, time and agitation for this film?

Can you post samples of your combination?

Did you look at this with the original size?

I have found Foma to have soft emulsion, with more defects than the major brands. The emulsion tends to curl and that blue base is just plain weird. That said, I was looking for the tonality and in lower resolution that example looks good.

I've only shot two rolls so far and the jury is still out. It curls badly, and the blue base is odd. This sample was shot at 400 iso and developed in DD-X 1+4 for 9 minutes at 20C. I suspect it needs to be exposed at 200 iso for contrasty conditions.

If you dry the 120 Foma film slowly in a humid environment it will dry flat, with a little spring along its length. Unlike many films it is also flat across its width, which is very nice in the negative carrier.

As for the scans, I use them mainly to judge tone, as my own prints when I scan them look nowhere near as sharp as do the real prints. I find the Foma 400 to have nice grain, tone, and sharpness.
