Sorry if this is old news, but I e-mailed Plustek yesterday to ask (without much hope) whether they had any plans for a MF scanner now the Coolscan 9000 is MIA and I got the following reply (unedited): "Yes I was informed that we r having a medium 120 format, maybe including multiple format Film scanner at the end of the year."

Sounds like good news to me if it's as good as the 7600Ai :D

Sounds good. I am wondering whether it will be similar/same to 120 scanner announced by Reflecta. In any case - I do hope that Plustek guys will get it right (reliability, software, durability, support). I am getting sick of my Microtek F1 (though the problem is probably the user). I could than keep it just for 4x5".

Multiple format? Better hang fire on the 35mm version I'm after at present. Glad I kept my RZ67.

Steve.

Well I should say if they don't price it like the Reflecta (1500 euro/2200USD) it'll be awesome. I can't imagine buying a medium format scanner for much more than a grand.

I mean I know what this stuff used to cost, but come on. The people who have money will probably just have lab scan their film or get immacons.

The PacificImage 120 is $1,949, is 3200 dpi, and apparently has a shorter carrier than the Nikon (it can only do one 6x9 frame at a time, though it can do 6x12). That is the unit that Reflecta is rebadging. I wouldn't count on something of equal quality and lower cost coming out of Plustek. The prototype Plustek pictures out there make it look even smaller than the PacificImage.

If you can't do 2 6x9 frames or 3 6x6 on one carrier load, your efficiency will suffer greatly.

Well I already have a v700 if I want speed. What I want from Plustek would be the detail that I know my film is capturing. Also I'm shooting 645 so I can probably do two at a time.
