PMK: Wondering About Scanning

I'm going to try out some PMK (pyrogallol, metol, kodalk) developer, which intentionally stains the negs, and supposedly results in some wonderful tonal separation. Has, or is, anyone here using PMK, and can you offer any hints/suggestions? Also, how does it scan? TIA.

I've been toying with trying Pyrocat-HD myself, but I got enough devs right now. I am interseted to see your results, though.

me too, I'd love to see some results as well. I've been wanting to try some alt. process contact printing from digital negs too but that's another story 🙂

Allan, thanks. Good links (as usual). I don't know why I don't go to photo.net, automatically. I'm a member over there, but rarely visit. I usually visit, in and out, here, at the best online photo forum on the net! Seems like most posters over there were wondering the same thing, 'does the stain, which is primarily a benefit to the wet/analog process, translate to the digital scanning process.'

I just emptied several jugs of developer, so I the PMK is up next. The stock solution supposedly has a shelf life measured in yeeaarrs. I don't know if I'll have any results by the time we put together the next Bay Area RFF meeting...hopefully.

Todd, me too. I'd love to try some of the alt processes. When I was searching for POP information I came across this company, and found, in their bibliography section, a few titles of books that clarified the various processees. IT'S HERE

My next tests are actually with using high-solvent developers at high dilutions (perceptol 1+3) on 35mm, vs. larger formats (120 & 5x7) with higher acutance developers. but that's not exactly here or there on this thread...

did you get that Epson 2200 setup? I vaguely recall a thread about that.

I did get the 2200 set up. Thanks for your input on that. Updated Here I'm getting some good results, too. Of course, now I'm pining for a better scanner.
