Just curious if a PocketWizard II would work with my Ziess Ikon ZM?

I currently shoot on location or in the studio with the new PW miniTT1 and flexTT5's .. lets me shoot completely wireless using remote strobes or speed lites with my canon dslr. i tried the miniTT1 on my Ikon ZM but it would not fire off the flashes. the test button worked and fired them off, but when i would take the actual photo nothing happened. i was thinking of trying a pocketwizard II and see if that would work.

Anyone try it? i think it would be fun to try it if it works. would love to see the expressions of the other models and photographers if i pulled out my Ikon with PW on it. lol.

Hello! I tried the same thing (with cactus4) with an Epson RD1. Same result,
The flash triggers work with any other cameras but not with the RD1. You have the same problem with PW triggers on a ZM.
Ergo: I am quite surprised, that a non DRF shows the same phaenomenas as a wierd DRF as the RD1 is. I was quite sure, that the da...d cactus4 was to blame too. But never thought this about the Pocket Wizards.
Cheers

The Flex- and mini- are TTL controlled, and made specifically for the Nikon and Canon TTL system- this is why you had to buy the correct Canon or Nikon unit. Obviously, your Ikon doesn't have the Canon TTL system's electronics. A regular, non-TTL radio slave like the PW Plus or Multimax will work fine, since it only sends a simple signal to trip the flash at it's pre-set power level once the shutter opens. Can the units you have be set to a manual (non-TTL mode)? That should do the trick. If you are using Canon speedlites, you'll have to set them to auto-aperture (using only their internal sensors) or manual power only. With regular studio strobes, you set the power and meter manually as normal.

You may have to connect the trigger to the camera's sync termal via a 2-3 inch sync cord. I've found this work with the following systems
Leica M4-2
Bronica SQ
Zeiss 533/16
Bessa I
